Great Paddle board straps + Security

I've had my straps for almost a year. They're great. Plus you have the added feature of locking them up if you're going to leave your board unattended for a while. I've used them on my boards with and without bags on them. I bought the 10 footers but now that I have bags for each board I need to exchange them for the 13 foot straps to get around two boards in bags. Luckily I bought them at REI so I can return them and get the longer ones.

Great - but be sure to lock them!

The straps are great, the locks are a reassuring feature but after several incident free months one of the lock housings fell off while I was driving with the straps in use but unlocked. The straps still work great, but one has no lock.

Inexpensive But Effective Insurance

Thule locking straps are very simple to use and the locking mechanism is very effective. My kayak is rarely off of my vehicle unless I’m floating or the lakes are frozen, so having a way to secure the kayak is very important.

Steel Wire protrudes through strap

These straps are great but this is my second pair after about 2 years the wire starts to protrude through the nylon part of the strap making it difficult to push through through the rubber coated lock down piece. Not sure why this keeps happening?

Defective

These worked well for one season. The following year, the locks stopped working entirely. The keys still fit but will no longer turn the locks. I wish I could return them, but it’s been just a couple weeks over one year. Super disappointed.

Peace of mind

We have Thule racks for bicycles, kayaks, surfboards and skiing. I have become over the past 20 years a quick change artist using our Thule square bar. I keyed everything alike.Yes it was an expense to order the amount of the same cylinders I needed for all, but it is one key for all. These straps make it so I have peace of mind, after locking the kayaks or surfboards with them, so we can enjoy a nice meal or whatever away from our vehicles line of sight. Great product.

No engraved lock number to match keys

If you have a lot of Thule products, you know it's convenient that Thule always engraves the lock number on the keys and the lock itself. This makes it easy to match up both when you have a pile of Thule keys. THIS IS NOT THE CASE with these. There is no engraved number on the locks, only on the keys. Thule you lost my trust in quality products from you.

Thule Customer Support

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the lock cores included with your Thule Locking Straps. Many older Thule products featured locks with the matching key codes displayed on the front. More recent locks only display the code on the key in response to customer requests for improved security on the system. Thule recommends recording the lock number and storing it with the user manual and proof of purchase in the event of emergencies or warranty requests. Additionally many Thule dealers and installers carry a "master key ring" which can be used to identify the matching key and purchase replacements.

Great option for locking your canoe kayak!

Love the integrated wire inside the straps and ease of use of the lock mechanism! Also awesome that you can change the locks to fit your set if locks for "one key to rule them all". Thanks Thule for great product. The 13ft is perfect for our canoe. (The 10 ft option will be too short however to anyone looking for steaps for their canoe)

Locking tie downs

I bought these in addition to my Hullavator lift system. Thought I have used them as yet, I’m sure they’ll be great like all my other Thule items are! I mainly got these to use when I take the kayak on a road trip. That way if I stop, I know it’ll be secure with the locking straps, feet and of course the Hullavator! Again thanks Thule!
