Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm elf hat Hat covers ears, neck and forehead well, is warm and does well in wind. Easy to fold and stow in pocket. Can be rotated forward to cover eyes if you are trying to sleep with hat on while camping or napping somewhere. I like Mountain Hardware quality products. I wear glasses and this hat is not shaped to accommodate the frames of glasses along the temples. The hat pushes down on the frames and is mildly uncomfortable when glasses are worn. My girlfriend says I look like an elf with this hat. But she likes the one I got her, and when we are both wearing these hats, I refer to us as "Mr and Mrs Elf". :->

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm I shave my head, live in Alaska, and have cross-country skied at -20 F. This is the hat I use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Hat for Winter Hiking I used this hat in a few snowshoeing hikes, including a winter climb to Mt. St. Helens. It is very warm, protects against wind (covers ears), fits well, and as far as I can tell wicks moisture reasonably well too. It is also relatively light and compact.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great winter hat Hat has thick material to block wind and hold in heat. I have a big head 7 5/8" and when I ordered the large it was too big for me so I ordered a medium, which fits snug. Flexible fleece at the back of the neck makes hat more comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great winter hat Completely windproof and very, very warm. I've had mine for years use it constantly, it's very well made. The hat has a tall dome that's designed to trap warm air and make the hat warmer. It's snug fitting but not tight and has complete ear coverage. Downsides: it's not very stylish as the tall dome might be a turn off for some people. This hat is probably too warm for serious exercise like running or fast cycling except on the coldest days.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad for the price. Purchased my Perignon back in November 2012. I chose the all black version, in size L/XL. I've used the hat in light rain and snow, in temperatures from 10° to 48°F. Never used the hat in winds above 40 MPH. I have a fairly large head, I wear a hat size 7 3/4, and I wear glasses. Why did I chose this particular hat? Cost, and to help block the wind. Plus my ears get really cold when I wear a beanie. Okay... If you have a big noggnin, like me. The Perignon is giong to feel a little tight, but after a good break in period, it took me a good 4 hours of wear time, the hat does conforms to your head. Also, if you wear glasses, you might feel discomfort from the hat's snug fit. This goes away once the Perignon stretches. You'll also notice sounds are muffled a bit, only because, both of your ears are coverd. It does block the wind from a simple breeze, to winds up to 25 MPH. When I was on top of Browns Peak, the cold winds gusted to 30 MPH, and I noticed a little woosh. So, I just put up my hood, from my hard shell jacket, and everything was fine again. After rigorous use, and after a couple of washes. I just noticed a couple of threads come loose, also I recommend to use a DWR spray after you wash the hat a couple of times. In light rain and snow the hat does repel water, but if you are in the rain for more than 30 minutes the hat will soak in the water. Also, the Perignon will attract all sorts of dirt and hair, it was kinda bothersome to me, but it might vary with the blue and gray one. So far, I've been very happy with my Dome Perignon Hat Beanie, it out performs my trusty Carhartt heavy wool hat, and my old REI fleece beanie. I was going to purchase the The North Face Windstopper, but the price and cinch cord was the drawback.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good hiking hat Yes I look like an elf in it... But it covers my ears and my head is warm. I really like how functional this hat is. Like someone else said, expect a little break in time but once it softens up and shapes to your head it's hard to beat it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very warm! Great hat. I've warn it on several one- and two-hour long runs in temperatures in the teens and twenties with complete comfort. Excellent wicking. The only downside is that the elasticity fits snugly mostly against the forehead, leaving a little bit of looseness around the ears. Even given that, I'd still recommend it.
