Great looking very snug fit
Takes a few try’s to figure out. Start by tying knots at the ends of tightening cord so they don’t get pulled back into the outside seem or you’ll keep losing them while trying to stretching them over the cockpit. Get someone to help you the first time by starting at the bow having friend holding cover in place as you move towards the stern stretching cover back and over side and around the stern. Then leave in place for awhile to stretch out, I left mine in the sun for a few hours and didn’t take off til the next day. It’s much easier now and I can put it on by myself with no problems. Equino 10.4 52”X 25” Just bought another one now I know this will work.
Great quality, but maybe tough to install
I love this cover. Universal Plus fits great to my Pungo 120 cockpit (57"x22"). As it's mentioned on the NRS product site "When placing the cover on cockpits at the upper end of the two size ranges, it can be a tight fit. Leave the cover on the boat for at least 24 hours to let it stretch a bit and it should be easier to put it on the next time." It was really tough to put on the kayak for the first time, but when it's on it covers great and doesn't sink under the rain like some other covers do. The only issue I found is with the shock cord band, which can easily slide inside the casing of the cover, unless you tie the nut before installing the cover. It's seems a minor design flaw that can be easily resolved (it's the reason I took 1 star out).
Well made; doesn't fit
I bought this cover for my Eddyline Sandpiper 12, which has a cockpit length of 50.5". Ordered and received the plus size. I couldn't stretch it to fit. Two of us couldn't stretch it to fit either. Also, the stretch cord going around the hem is not secured so it will slip into the hem if you don't tie it off. The cover appears to be very well made as otherwise. I found a cover on Eddyline's site for the Sandpiper and ordered it, as their product should fit. This one's getting returned, sadly. Usually NRS products perform as advertised.
Fits like a glove. Feels like a quality product.
Does what it's supposed to do - keeps critters and random debris out of my kayaks while they are stored outdoors. The fit was perfect and not at all difficult. Universal size, regular sea kayaks (P&H Delphin, Eddyline Sitka)
Do not buy unless you are certain it will fit.
The material of construction was very high quality. However, after 15 frustrating minutes and a bloody knuckle, I decided this was not worth the trouble. For starters, the sizing guide for the universal plus indicates it will fit 40-57" cockpits. My cockpit is 48" and I could not physically get the cover to stretch around the entire thing. Secondly, the elastic cord in the perimeter of the cover is not conducive to holding a knot under tension. This only exacerbated issues with fit as most basic knots would fly undone under tension while trying to stretch to fit. Overall I am extremely disappointed in this product. I believe that if the cord was permanently fused together, it MIGHT work. But, I still question whether or not it would stretch to fit cockpits on the high end of the suggested range.
Perserverance pays off
I was so ready to return this Kayak cockpit cover. Could not stretch it to fit my Old Town loon 120 with 55" x 21" cockpit. The trick is you need two people to do it - at least the first time you put it on. One person sits at the stern and hold it in place while the other person pulls it over the front rim. It fit beautifully now. Hoping by next spring it will have stretched out just a little to make it easier to do this in the future without help.
Does Not Fit Pelican Intrepid 100X
Total waste of $50 plus the gas and time to return it. Requires at least a second person to install, making it useless to the solo operator. No cord locks on the ends of the shock cord (but one on the packaging!?!) so when the "simple knot" (per package instructions) inevitably comes untied, the cord snaps back into the casing. Nothing but frustration, even after watching "how to" videos. Wish I'd seen the reviews before buying. Save yourself the aggravation and buy something else.
Works Great on Pungo 100
This cover was put to an ultimate test on the first use. We were carrying the kayak on the roof of my vehicle through a very severe thunderstorm. The cover stayed in place keeping water out and reducing the wind drag. Would recommend to anyone.
Perfect for any Dagger Kayak
I love these cockpit covers. They work in all sorts of conditions and weather. They also work driving across the country with the cockpit facing out and it stayed on with no problem at all. They keep water and all of the animals out for year round storage. I seriously bought 10 and they are awesome.
Graet buy
Our kayaks have a large cockpit and this cover fits very nicely. I knotted the ends of the cord so that it would not pull through when stretching over the cockpit. Fits well and stays on when driving down the Interstate. Great product.
