Great for beginners
This was my first paddle and my second. I started with the 220 but found it too short so I went to the 230. I was looking at other paddles but you can't beat this one for the price. I am rough on things so I like that it is made of durable materials to take my abuse. It is a little heavey but not by much and I would probably not see a difference. The grips make it easy to use without gloves and gives a little more protection than a bare shaft plus has good grip even when wet. It is oval in the grip area also. I plan to use it on day trips, camping and recreational trips. After an hour and a half of paddling I am not wore out.

Good, but we've had issues...
We purchased two of these paddles and took them (and our tandem kayak) on vacation. We should have tried them out before the vacation. But when we tried to assemble one of the paddles, the detent ball would not pop into the hole to secure the paddle together. We fought with it for about 10 minutes and finally got it to engage enough to use. We did this at two different lakes, fighting with the paddle each time. When we returned home, I called REI online and ordered another paddle. When it came into the store, I returned the defective paddle, and tried assembling the new paddle before I left the store. The replacement paddle had the same issue as the one previous paddle!!! An REI employee worked with the paddle for perhaps 20 minutes, extracting the spring mechanism from inside the tube, and bending it several times to get it to function properly. It is now workable, but still does not positively pop out into the hole like it's supposed to. So I caution you to check the "mating" of your paddle halves before leaving the store. The paddles work well in the water, and have a rubber grip to ease your hold on the paddle. But one of our rubber grips got a hole in it from friction with my ring. SO the durability of the grip is not particularly good.

Great Paddle Choice

I purchase my first kayak in March 2022 from REI. I did some reading and learned about the different types of paddles. I was very fortunate and stoked to find an employee who knew alot about paddles. I had picked one out with the specifics that i wanted, but after talking with Frank ( at REI in Tustin) he guided me to try out the Bounce by BB. I am a recreational sit on top kayaker and will be mostly on lakes and bays. I Love to paddle for hours and wanted a paddle between beginner and advanced. First time out i knew i got the right one. thank you to Frank!

And extremely comfortable paddle

I switched from my old harmony paddle to this paddle and I like it a lot better . It was a great price also . Looks like it was only available in yellow . I may buy a second one as a back up .

Bending Branches paddle

Nice, lightweight paddle, grips add function on windy days with lots of spray. Built well enough for the price point. Worked well for my 100# daughter paddling solo in a 70# Pamlico tandem in 20 mph winds!

Excellence!

Great paddle for me, a beginner, and my teen kids. It's affordable, durable, easy to use, and it can break down for easy storage and travel!

Will leave you up a creek (or in the ocean)

Second Bending Branches paddle to have a blade fall off in a year. I have a 15 year old Bending Branches paddle that has had no issues but new ones must have a different adhesive than is unacceptably unsafe. Left me 2 miles from my take out in the ocean along a cliff at night.

Great paddle, especially for the price

I've used this for two years without any problems. It comes in two sections which makes it manageable for storage and transportation. The aluminum is lightweight and durable, the plastic blades work perfectly fine for pushing off rocky shores, and the grips are extremely comfortable. No gripes, and the price is great!

Great paddle!

I purchased this paddle two years ago and use it nearly every weekend during our warmer season. It has served me very well. I love the drip rings and the ability to angle the paddles. Very easy to manipulate.

Still my favorite

I got this for my daughter's kayak and found I kept borrowing hers. Finnaly got my own. Love the grip and the shape of the paddle. Excellent for figure 8 stroke and long excursions.
