Excellent stove

Purchased for solo hiking, but have now cooked for 4 hikers with it. Had to purchase a pot scraper, but now it cleans very nicely. Have had no wind issues and have mastered the temperature adjustments. Love this - nothing beats a hot meal on the trail or a hot cup of coffee in the morning.

heat baffles burned off

I used the Sumo pot for 1.5 summers before the baffles under the pot burned away and fell off. Since it was over 1 year, REI said that the stove was "pretty USED", like 1.5 years was all it would be expected to last!! That is not long enough for an over $100. cooking system. Also, I had the bottom plastic cup break the first trip, and the plastic top didn't stay on when cooking. I gave it 3 stars because I would still use it over another system!

much better than I expected!

I bought this because I was planning a self contained biking trip on the Great Allegheny Passage with my 8yo and 12yo, along with our Boy Scout troop. We planed to eat on the trail as well as camping the night before the ride and after. I have a MSR pocket rocket, but I was concerned that I might need more cooking volume for the three of us. This stove met that expectation and I never even got the pocket rocket out of my panier! Boiling water was AMAZINGLY fast! I was concerned that the can liner would be melted/burned during the heating process, but there is absolutely no evidence of any heat at all! VERY satified with the purchase and I'm sure this stove is going to serve us very well for a long time!

great stove, lid lacking

The personal cooking system was my first stove six years ago. It sold many of my friends as well. I got the 2L pot and an extra .8L. In buying the Sumo, it expanded our capacity to get more people coffee and breakfast at the same time and thus we were able to break down camp faster. This stove has lived up to expectations. HOWEVER, the lid has not. I can't get the dang thing to stay on! Even when I am boiling water and it is super stretchy- it pops right off. Apparently, I am not the only one with this problem and the good folks at Jetboil are fixing it.

Awesome for caffeine junkies

Love it! Makes a large pot of coffee with the French press part. Great for cooking a few hydrated meals fast. The big gas fits inside this unit and packs away tight. The ceramic pot/pan are beast for cooking and I love the utensils. Worth every penny.

Group Water Boiler Machine!

Let me start by saying I have been using Jetboil Products since before they hit the retail floor- I had a shop demo PCS in my store before they shipped their first retail units. Since then, I have owned the PCS, 1.5L pot, a Flash, 2 Genesises, a Luna side Burner, a Sumo, and a Minimo. I have also used or owned everything from a Svea 123 to an XGK to catfood stoves. Been there, done that. If what you want is to boil water for 3-4 people quickly and efficiently in a 3 season setting- look no further. I also use it on car camping trips with the french press attachment as the group coffee maker either with a Luna Side Burner on my Genesis or on it's own.

Awesome

I love this stove. My buddy has the standard jetboil so I went with the Sumo. Boils water quick and starts every time. Perfect for rehydrating food and coffee. I have had this item for two years with more than 60 days in the bush. Highly recommend.

Great system!

Purchased the Jetboil Sumo for a camping trip and was very impressed with the speed at which it boils water. It takes just a few minutes to bring water to boiling, and is great for those mornings when you just need to have that cup of tea quickly! Convertible to a stove for your pots, too! Somewhat easy to clean, and smaller fuel tank fits into the cooking cup for easy packing.

I like it mostly

I have had mine for about 5 years and think it works pretty well at boiling water. It is fast and easy. I debated giving three stars as the igniter worked twice when I first got it and hasn’t since yet even though you see a spark. This is even with Jetboil’s “Jetpower”, it just won’t ignite. The lid is hard to get to stay on and doesn’t all that well. My biggest gripe is I bought the Java attachment separately and it is junk. It doesn’t have a tight seal and allows a tin of grinds to get by. I feel like I got fleeced on that purchase and hugely regret it. Their prices seem to only go up, which I don’t get.

Does what's promised

Does what is promised. Great Volume since my wife and I both like coffee while camping. Makes a large pot in an REI coffee pot we bought. Stores easily and easy to set up. Feels a bit unstable to me and a little hard to disassemble at times Great product - overall.
