Warm in the coldest of temps

I tend to run cold so the Alti-Mitt is perfect for those below zero days at the ski resort, as the extra pair you throw in your pack for a backcountry ski day (to put on at the top or when taking a break), and as a go to on a big expedition like I have used for Denali, and heli-skiing in Alaska. These mitts are not made for mild days, they will be too warm. If you need a reliable, well made, durable pair of warm mittens for the coldest days you spend outside in the winter, these are the ones.

Not warm enough for -zero skiing; no dexterity
Barb

I was so disappointed in these gloves, I ski in even the coldest Northeast weather, and these gloves not only weren't as warm as I'd hoped, but there was so little dexterity in them I couldn't even grasp a zipper pull, or yank my neck gaitor up on the lift. I couldn't pick up a ski by grasping the binding while it was lying flat on the snow. I actually started getting cramps in my thumbs from working so hard to grip the ski poles while skiing. I normally wear mittens rather than gloves, so I'm used to them, but these were awful. Part of the problem is the disconnect between the liner and the outer mitt, when I folded my fingers down, the inner liner moved with them but the outer shell did not. I don't know how anyone uses these gloves for anything requiring the use of hands. I ordered a size small, they felt slightly large but I measured carefully before ordering and this seemed an appropriate size. I gave them two of five stars because my hands were warm for the first two runs. On the third, I got cold, and after the fourth I desperately needed to get inside and put hand warmers in. I had done a lot of research on these and got them for Christmas, but I wanted them for sub-zero ski days and these just didn't cut it. For $200, I should be able to get more than two warm runs in on very cold days.

#1 for Working Outdoors

Being outdoors in winter for work & pleasure had become almost unbearable due to Raynauds, until these mittens. They really do keep my hands, especially my fingers, warm and pain-free. I have purchased many other gloves & mittens and none kept my fingers warm enough to prevent pain. I didn't rate them 5 stars because when I am working in them for multiple hours my hands do get sweaty. Also they're extremely bulky, so sometimes just have to take them off to get something done. The look of the long cuffs initially put me off (I'm not wearing them for skiing) but they proved useful in other situations. They have a lot of features which the manufacturer could explain better on a product insert / label. Please note the Outdoor Research cardboard product hanger states these mittens have heat pack pockets, which neither the sales clerk nor I could find. I would buy them again and I do recommend them.

Finally a pair of Gloves that works!

I have Raynaud's Disease and have tried a ton of gloves without any extra warmers. I was looking for a pair of gloves to play out in the snow with my kids. These gloves are finally it! It was 15° F today and my hands were fine. They are bulky, but it beats the pain I'm typically in.

Alti Mitts are the Ultímate!

My hands and feet are always cold and I bought these for a heliskiing trip. They not only kept my hands warm while skiing but during the pick ups and drop offs when the helicopter is whipping up the snow! I actually had to take the outer mitten off and wore just the liner when we got down lower. If you can’t buy heated gloves, These are really the ultimate.

works for me

I can see how pp complain the fit is poor; it's true, they run large and you can't cinch the wrist. I use these for resort skiing, -20c, and at first found them bulky but quickly got used to them. I use a hot-shots/handwarmers on the coldest days. Lots of room inside for that! I like that there is no wrist cinch to interfere with pole strap. I have them on and off a lot so again, without the cinched wrist, they are easy to get on and off. Love the idiot strings. Love that you can use the inner mitt alone (although it is not very fitted) and remove for washing. Showing zero wear and tear after lots of use. When they are back in stock, will get some for my kids; I'll bet they have them for decades.

Dysfunctional

After 2 yrs of frustration and misery, I've grown to despise these overpriced mitts and wish I never bought them or had returned them straight away. There's NO insulation on the palms in either shell or liner and the hands, fingers, thumbs all freeze solid below 15, even with a an additional fleece liner. A hand warmer isn't enough and an added expense to an already expensive glove. The liner mitt ripped after a couple months, used gorilla tape to patch. Now the shell is fraying in several areas and are taped too. There is no dexterity with these, either the shell or liner. Difficult to do anything, even holding my poles is a challenge. The only quality aspect is the leather palm. I hate these mitts!!!

Too big

I gave these to my wife as a gift. Spent the extra money because her hands are always cold when we ski. They seemed to be really warm; however, the small was too large for her and an XS wasn't available. The cuff was too long. This made the glove a little bulky for skiing. The quality and construction seemed good. No problem with the return.

Runs large, a little too bulky

My hands are always freezing, so I thought I would give these a try. I usually wear a small, but these were really large. I did a few snowboarding runs in them anyway, and they were very warm, but due to the size, I couldn't keep them.
