Features

  • Ice Tech design offers advanced heat control for disc brake systems: the outer layers of the rotor are made of stainless steel, which are bonded to an aluminum core
  • This design captures the best of both worlds: the durability and powerful braking response of stainless steel along with the light weight and heat dissipation of aluminum
  • Plus, the strong aluminum spider dissipates even more heat and adds rigidity
  • Lower rotor operating temperatures means less power fade and improved brake pad longevity
  • The Shimano XT Ice Tech SM-RT86 6-bolt disc rotor is available in 160mm or 180mm sizes; sold as individual rotor and not compatible with Center Lock hubs

Great rotors run cool

Great rotors, keep cool stop just as good as the 76's but can dissapate heat faster. Regarding the 1 star review I can't see any issues with other brake manufacturers unless you're using the wrong adapter or perhaps a 140mm rotor. Regardless I'd see that one star as a rating for the reviewer/mecahic rather than the rotor

No fade since switching to Ice Tech

I kept rotor size the same 180/160 and switched to ice tech pads and rotors from non-series resin only rotors and standard resin pads on my 2014 Fuel EX with SLX brakes. No more fade. I'm ordering the same rotors for a bike that will hopefully arrive before summer.
