Excellent for field work

Bought this to use for field biology work & hiking - effective sun protection & breathes well. The lining around the inner rim keeps sweat out my eyes. White isn't the best color when sloshing around in muddy wetlands, would have prefered tan or grey, but the hat washes easily. No stains yet!

Comfortable but needs a bit stiffer brim

The hat is light and comfortable, but I find that a moderate wind blows the brim up and does not allow for any sun protection which is why I bought the hat in the first place.

Comfortable and lightweight

Bought this to wear during a 12-hour ultramarathon that was projected to be on a VERY hot, VERY sunny day. It worked like a charm! I was worried it might keep my head warm, as the hat isn't vented, but the fabric is so lightweight that it didn't seem to be an issue. Very happy with the purchase!

Still working well after 4 years

I needed a hat that was bright, breathable, kept the sun off my face/neck, stayed on my head, squashy for shoving into my backpack when hiking, and that fit well. As a bonus, when I found this hat I discovered that it could be washed. Those were the magic words I didn't know I needed to read because I now own 2 of these (an older bright green color, laurel, and the newer seaglass blue). It ticks almost all of my boxes: while it does stay very securely on my head thanks to the adjustable chin strap, in any kind of breeze, let alone full blown wind, the brim becomes useless. What good is a sun hat if the brim is prevented from keeping the sun off of you? Despite this, I still love my hat. A recent hike on the windy High Peaks Trail of Pinnacles NP reminded me that even though the brim is soft--so helpful when packing, so frustrating when windy--this hat stayed on my head and otherwise did not budge. I was not concerned over losing my hat to the abyss while I held on to the railings and climbed those narrow, steep staircases. A hat that I didn't have to worry about losing is a win as far as I'm concerned. I also don't get terrible hat hair with this. Hat hair, sure, but not as bad as when I wear a baseball cap.

Packable hat

Very lightweight and packable. Easy to adjust the strap. Flaps up in the wind a little bit too much.

So far so good ...

So far I'm pretty happy. The crown adjustment helps with a more custom fit, it can be stuffed into a backpack and retains its shape, and it's comfortable and cool. One day when I was kayaking, I didn't have the cinch tight and it blew off into the water. Luckily it floats so I was able to circle back for it!

Great hat

This is my second one. I left the first hanging on a shower at the beach. I love it.

Paper thin hat that would catch air easily

This hat is very thin and would catch air with the slightest breeze. It’s hard to believe it ever made it past the product development stage. It’s frustrating that I have to pay $6 for return shipping to return it. The bottom liner of the hat falls down on your forehead every time you put it on and the way the rim folds looks ridiculous. Save your time and purchase another one!
