Outdoor Research  Oasis Sun Hat - Women's

Am a small woman so ordered a Small but really need an XS which Outdoor Research does not make. Not happy with the fit because when I tighten the ‘draw string’ elastic the ‘stopper’ no longer has a spring to stop it slipping so have to tie the elastic in a knot. The way the hat is designed, the elastic cuts into my forehead and leaves a mark when it is tight enough to stay in position on my head. Have an older Large Sunbriolet that was my husband’s: it is a better fit and much better quality hat. Needless to say I’m disappointed and would return it if I hadn’t already worn it.

We received this hat at the beginning of May, and I wore it to the beach four times (on the same trip). That's the only time I had worn it. Today, I took it out fishing, and the seam on the front started to pull away from the top part, leaving a big hole in the hat! I am SO bummed! I, in no way, put this hat through any abuse or demanding physical conditions. I wore it a few times sitting on the beach and thought it would be perfect for fishing this evening. I was not expecting this kind of quality issue with an Outdoor Research product. I'm hoping that I just got a dud.

I bought this hat for our summer vacation to CO/UT. It was cool and offered great sun protection while hiking around Moab in July.

I have a ton of hats. This is hands-down my FAVORITE hat. It is functional, fits well, looks great, and it's just a great all-around hat. This is my go-to hat when I'm kayaking. I just love this hat!

I first bought this hat 2 years ago in preparation for a multi-week walking trip. I wanted something stylish enough for city use but lightweight and shading enough to protect me from intense heat and sun. It minimizes my need to use sunscreen every time I leave home. I love the flattering shape of the brim, the sleek thin straps, and the neutral color. It was a great disappointment when I lost my hat recently, but after trying out all other viable options this hat still won my choice for a replacement.

I ordered the hat via internet, and asked a friend to bring it to Taiwan, so my friend did not inspect the hat. it was a bad quanlity control and poor seam. Richie

This hat was fantastic! I would give it 10 stars if I could. It was my daily companion for 5 months through Asia. I wore it every day. It was great to protect from the sun or rain. The brim is wide enough to provide adequate coverage from the sun. The brim holds its shape even after I folded it to put in my rain jacket pocket. It also cleans very well. I got bird droppings (a huge amount) on it, and even after it was sitting in the sun for several hour hours before I could get back to the hotel for a proper washing, it came completely out. No trace left. I even put it in the washing machine and it came out fine. The brim also provides great coverage when it rains. I didn't need an umbrella as this kept the rain out of my face and freed my hands. The chin strap was essential for windy days and even the elastic band around the head was very useful for windy days. The only drawback was that it left a mark on my forehead which was only an issue if I wanted to take it off for a photo. The top is light enough so it doesn't feel hot on hot days. There is an internal cloth to help keep sweat away. It performed perfectly in a variety of situations. It packed well in my small pack. You won't regret this purchase!

I bought this hat for the Winnipeg Folk Festival. It kept the sun off and was water resistant during the rain. The tie worked in high winds and when boating. I'm very happy with my purchase. It is compact and folds for travel.

I've been wanting a sunhat for a while with a full brim instead of just a baseball cap style, and I'm super glad I got the Oasis Sombrero! It's breathable, keeps the sun off, & in my opinion looks stylish! I followed the size chart for fitting and the L fits me perfectly! As someone who sunburns easily, I'm supper glad to have this hat for many outdoor pursuits to come. p.s. This hat is a bit like a sail if it's windy out, but so far the strap has held it on just fine for me!
