Hard to Beat, Quality Tent
This was my choice after trying out the Half Dome T2 Plus and finding that the fly let water drip onto the tent body's mesh when trying to weather storm with the vestibules open. So the good news here with the Quarter Dome T2 Plus is that the problem is solved! The price makes it an attractive option in the "almost ultra light" category, aka super-light I guess? Whatever the case, there's a number of lighter alternatives out there however they all are A) more expensive by 100-200 dollar, and B) they make sacrifices on space which is difficult for me to tolerate at 6'4". Put it this way, since attempting to go ultralight and keep a freestanding, doublewall tent in my pack (I'm not a fan of tarps or singlewall), I've still not found something that pleases me enough to switch and save 1-2 pounds of pack weight. That's saying something about the comfort, quality, and durability of this tent for sure. The teardrop doors would be fantastic if they had widened the teardrop a bit, maybe 4-6" on each side towards the corners. The problem is that entering the tent with the vestibule only half open (as in, staked out but with zip-down portion rolled back) is that, at least for me, again as a big guy, it can be like watching clowns enter/exit a VW Beetle at the circus. It takes practice and you definitely need to leave breech-style, feet first and back out on your hands/knees. Or at least I do. Otherwise the doors are awesome and the fact that they never get stepped on or fall inward onto people/gear is fantastic. Only way to make a door in my opinion. Condensation has never been a concern and I recently camped in 35 degree weather with 95% humidity. There was a very fine layer of condensation on the under side of the fly in the vestibule area but nothing of note above the mesh body of the tent. Definitely open the fly vents and use the guy lines to stretch the fly away from the short ends of the tent at ground level. Makes a huge difference for ventilation. Interior space is great, especially being tall and still having room at my feet for some clothes to dry in the night, or more often than not, my dog to sleep near my feet. However, I wish the designers would have considered two people on 25" wide sleeping pads in the design and made the floor two inches wider in the short dimension. It's not that they won't fit, it's just that they BARELY fit. As it stands, I switched out my girlfriend's 25" wide mat for a 20" wide which is fine because she's tiny. It's a common gripe I have with tents however if you plan on fitting two large men in there (and I feel like a "plus" should do so). The tent, when all guyed out, stands up very well to winds of 30mph without so much as a shudder. It's easy to get a good taut pitch of the tent body and fly and keep everything going through some serious gusts. I haven't tried it over 40mph but I suspect it would do fairly well, or at least as well as the best 3-season tents. This is a HUGE plus for me since I camp in coastal areas or mountainous areas where wind can be an issue. Pockets and all that jazz are pretty standard and sufficient. I miss the center roof pocket of the Half Dome however. I do wish they would update the tent with lighter more modern materials and put it up as a competitor to something like the Copper Spur. I also replaced the lackluster guy lines with some Lawson Glowire with Exped line locks. Simple upgrade means no more tumbling over the guy lines in the dark even with a headlamp. Whoever thought black was a good idea needs to be slapped (or tripped in the dark unexpected). Setup.... It's annoying at times. It's easy to get the poles backwards with the orange poles crossing OVER the silver. Maybe I'm dumb but this happens 50% of the time for me. Also, while I haven't officially attempted it in anger, setting up the tent fly-first in the rain with the footprint seems like it will not work. The problem is that the tent body has, at each eyebrow over the door, a clip that creates downward tension on the orange poles' short section. Without that body clipped to it the eyebrows angle upwards. Now I could be wrong but I suspect you can't get a 100% satisfactory pitch of the fly only, or fly first. That said, it might be sufficient to at least crawl under it and finish setting up the body without getting wet. YMMV Overall, it's hard to argue with this tent's value. It's not perfect but it's pretty darn awesome. If it were in the 3.5 pound trail weight area it would be a brilliant tent. Until then it gets my "very good" rating of 4 stars.

Faulty
I own a five year old T3. The rainfly has become very sticky on the underside and is off gassing. I bought it at an REI yard sale because it was new. It has only been used for two nights in the past five years. It now unusable and REI will not stand behind it. I have a 30 year old Texport and a 16 year old Walrus tent that have never let me down. I will not be buying another REI tent.

No "CONS" for this one!

First Use; I set the tent up and went into Key West for a bit and on the way back a big storm with driving rain and 30 to 40 mile an hour wind gusts kicked up. We were camping at the end of a small campgrond peninsula and I wondered in what condition I would find the tent. WOW! I found it totally secure and dry as a bone. The wind and rain continued through the night and I continued to stay dry. The second night again pouring rain and I stayed dry. The vestubules were great for our stuff and fold bikes leaving so much room inside the tent. I like the fly, it doesn't lay on the ground when unzipped. This tent is great and I would recommend it to anyone!

Never let me down

I bought this tent because my sister and I out grew my old Mountain Hardwear one. We both loved the space this one provided! It's still small enough to pack in a bulk head of a sea kayak and light enough to take on a backpacking trip. I've slept dry and comfortable on windy shores and in rainy woods. I'm really happy with this tent and can't wait for spring break to come so I can camp in it again! It has become my home away from home. :)

Great Tent and Good Quality

I used this tent this weekend and was really impressed. The tent is made very well with quality materials that are light and don't add bulk. Setting up the tent isn't very intuitive so i'm glad I set it up at home first instead of waiting until I was in the backcountry. I really liked the storage on the inside of the tent. There are several mesh pockets to store items in the corners of the tent, as on the ceiling. The space inside the tent is reasonable. It's a backpacking tent and you should expect to be a little closer to the person next to you inside this tent. Plenty of legroom and head room inside. The fly worked really well during the trip. We had gusts around 15 mph and you didn't notice any of it.

Best tent ever!

Can't say enough good things about this tent! It is light, packs easy, sets up easy, is sturdy and has great features. My favorite feature is doors on both sides of the tent. I bought the larger "plus" version so I had room to put my pack and dog at that bottom of the tent. I have used this tent for almost a year and a half and have had no issues. I bought it for a month long roadtrip to California but over the past year, I have been using it more for multi day and night backpacking trips.

Great tent for 2

Bought this tent for 2-person backpacking trips and it has performed flawlessly so far. The design is perfect for backpacking as two people fit easily in the rectangular tent area and the gear is protected under the vestibule as the rain fly extends out beyond the tent on each side. We were able to enter and exit the tent easily and tested it in moderate rainfall with no water penetration and no condensation buildup inside. Since the tent body is mesh, it is very easy to regulate temperature by opening or closing the rainfly openings on each side. Well-place interior pockets kept our essentials organized and easy to find. I would highly recommend this tent for 2-person backpacking.

Great Tent

I read tons of reviews for multiple different tents and this one seemed to stand out. I've had it for a couple years now and have used it a few times and love it. The setup is easy as everything is color coded, if the colors don't match up ... you're doing it wrong. I bought the foot print for it as well which is also color coded. Setup is quick but like someone had commented, the instructions aren't really that good but if you've ever put a tent up before, you should be fine without them. There is plenty of room inside for one person and gear or two people with the gear under the two vestibules. The vestibules fit a good amount of gear under them and keeps it dry. The entry way is wide on the tent but the combination of the fly makes it a bit more confined when trying to get out of the tent but it's far from a deal breaker. It packs down nice and fits in my bag without a problem. I would definitely recommend it.

Easy to setup and Good Headroom

This tent has worked great for the past 4 or 5 years in the back country. I have used it primarily to sleep one on backpacking trips and have never had a problem. I can set it up a 10-15 minutes by myself. Best tent i have owned as it balances being lightweight with also enough room to sit up in.

Happy so far

I've had this for almost a year now. I like the amount of room inside for the weight and price. There's plenty of room to sit up, and change, and to have two people without the side of the tent sagging on you. I also like the pocket space and the pockets to hold the unzipped doors. I've only been in one downpour and it stayed perfectly dry inside. I question if the fly will at some point allow water in since the way it's designed leaves more slack in places where water won't shed as smoothly. I hope it stands the test of time. The only other issue I have is that the bag it comes in isn't really long enough for the poles to fit in properly. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Home run design.

my first backpacking tent of this caliber. I live in florida and I am 6 foot tall so the extra length and supersized use of no-seeum mesh was a driving factor. what arrived at my door blew me away. Roomy as all get out easy to set up fast to take down. soooo light. i would dfinantly buy this tent a second time

Great backpacing tent

I love this tent I am 6'4" and my girlfriend and I both use this tent on our backpacking adventures. At night both our bedrolls fit comfortably we put our packs outside under the fly on one side and use the door on the other just our preferance but everything is covered. It's one of the lighter tent's in the size range we found and set up is a breeze REI is an outstanding company as far as standing behind there products
