Nice work!
I bought these for hiking Half Dome in Yosemite. They were super comfortable, reliable, protected me from heat, and very lightweight. The fit is slimmer and looks/feels good. Enough pockets to hold a few extras including a zip. Wore these basically 3 days straight in hot weather. Good for driving/travel too. Very impressed. I didn't cut them too shorts this trip but home I have and fit is good right above knee. BTW my length is 34. I'm 6,2. They fit right over my boots and didn't bulk up.

not good compared to old REI convertibles
I have brought 2 pair and I'm in the process of exchanging these pants a second time. The first pair, a hole formed in the pocket, which is made of netting instead of solid material. The second pair, the zipper broke on the only zippered pocket. Pros and cons..... Pros: -inexpensive ($60) -material feels nice Cons: -quality issues -only 1 zippered pocket and no Velcro ID pockets (Old REI convertibles had a second zipper "watch" pocket and a Velcro ID pocket). I personally wear these in the city most of the time, and if these pants can't hold up in city, can you trust them in the backwoods?

Unraveling of quality

The stitching on both pair of convertible pants I purchased failed miserably. One pair arrived with no stitching on the bottom of the rear pocket rendering it useless. The other rear pocket has now also come unattached. The crotch on both pair have failed and I've had to mend them. I thought Columbia stood for quality, now that perception is also frayed. We will see if it's beyond repair.

Still my Go-to Hiking Pant

I bought my first version of these six or seven years ago, and those are still going strong (I have worn them so much that the shorts have faded to a lighter color than the legs). Those had great pockets, great fit, and great durability. The latest versions of them are still OK, but Columbia has lost a star on these by getting rid of one of the pockets (there used to be a nice zippered pocket inside the right hand pocket), making the fit a little more snug, and seemingly using a weaker fabric. They're still a good value and a nice, lightweight, quick-drying convertible pant, but I wish I'd stocked up on the older ones when I had the chance.

Great pants

Used for hiking in mountains of Washington State and for a trek with REI in Peru. Worked out great in changing weather conditions and environments.

Work great for girls too

Finally, I am 5'7" and 135 pounds femail and womens feild pants just do not fit comfortably for backpacking. I would say they are made with too much fashion in mind and therefore are tight, scratchy, and just bad. Anyway, I decided to try mens pants and these were perfect. Not too tight anywhere, moved great with me even when climbing class 3,4,&5 peaks. The material is a sturdy, soft, pliable fabric and held up well to long mountaineering trips, including rock scuffing from sitting down, kneeling, etc. when moving through techical areas. Great pants for women and men alike! Regarding my con: the webbing belt dose not stay tight during intense hiking or climbing. Not a big problem for me becuase the pants fit quite well, but thought you may want to know.

Quality is not what it used to be

I had a pair of these I purchased 5 years ago that I wore 3-5 times a WEEK for years and they are still going strong. So I ordered 2 pairs expecting the same results. The new pairs are slightly different (they have a softer waste band) but they do not wear well. I have only worn the new pairs 3-4 times a MONTH for the last year and they both have stitching coming apart on the same rear pocket(I don't keep my wallet in that pocket). Very sad since I loved my original ones (and still wear them often). The photos are from the 2 new pair

Comfortable and Versatile

Easy to change configurations. Zippers are smooth. Material is lightly splash resistent. I wear these convertibles for any activity that starts early in the morning and extends throughout the day so that I can adjust my clothing to better regulate my body temperature due to evolving weather patterns. Note: I'm 5'8" and 143 lbs. The 30" inseams are just about right, but when the pants sag a bit throughout the day, the cuffs will drag on the ground a little. Could be about an inch shorter.

Super Comfortable Lightweight Pant

First let me say that Columbia make a great pair of trousers. Along with the feather lightweight, the wicking and heat capabilities of these are great. I normally wear a 32-33" but 34" is all they had available in stock. Even with the elasticity on the pant hips (now a necessity for all future hiking and travel wear) they stay on well and are. The tad bigger size lets me use my carbon fiber belt wich I love. I recommend you try them on in the store you will probably size up, 6' 160 and many similar pants I tried were way too relaxed fit around the legs, glad these are a "classic" fit cause im a bit skinny dude

Not really meant for active hiking/climbing.

These pants did not hold up well at all for hiking. The rear pocket seam gave way the first time they were worn with nothing more than a wallet in them. The fabric while comfortable and lightweight did not hold up well for some light rock scrambling we did on a trail the first time they were worn. I will be contacting customer service about a return.
