Great performer!
Bought this to replace an X7 that broke unexpectedly. I will never go back to the X7! The X5 set up easy out of the box and needed minimal adjusting to get it shifting smoothly. Took it for a ride and it performed flawlessly. It hit every gear without jumping, skipping, or anything. The only downside is it's a bit heavier than the others, but who cares?! I'd rather have reliable shifting over saving a few grams. Get the X5, use the money you saved to get some stinger waffles!
broke, just like all sram derailleurs
I know derailleurs wear out and break. They're hanging out there all vulnerable just waiting for something to smash them. But this is getting ridiculous. My bike started with an x9 and i broke that within a couple months. Not wanting to spend that much money to replace it, I have been buying x4 and x5. x9 bent really easy, but the x5 and x4 just fall apart. Literally, I am now on my 6th sram derailleur, and 4 of them broke into pieces just going down rough terrain; no big crash, no slip off a log ride. WHEN this one decides to fall apart im going to buy new shifters and switch brands. Should have a long time ago. (PS: the picture is a 10 speed, not a 9 speed)
Even the bike shop can't work get it working
Bought this a couple months ago wanting to upgrade my bike with better components. Couldn't get the derailleur working on my own so I took it to the professionals. Even they couldn't get it to shift passed 5th gear. I would not recommend this product unless you're a genius in figuring out derailleurs. Wish I hadn't thrown away my receipt and box so I could return it.
