I wear this jacket for almost everything.
This is the most versatile jacket that I have from Arc'Teryx. It is a slim/athletic fit. I'm 6'3" with a 41" chest and 36" sleeve. I have this jacket in a large. The sleeves are cut so you can fit about a single...maybe a mid layer too...underneath it. I took it up Mt. Rainier and it blocked much of the wind while charging up the mountain. I will say that sitting still it is much cooler than some other jackets I've owned, but carry a lightweight puffy and you're golden. The chest pockets are awesome, and construction is top notch! You can pretty much use both a harness and backpack with no issues using the pockets.
Definitely worth the $$
Outgrew my first one, decided to come back for another. Excellent waterproofing, blocks the wind and the cut in the arms/shoulders allows full mobility for various activities. Zero complaints.
VERY cold jacket!
I was SEVERLY disappointed in this jacket. I loved the look and fit of this jacket, zippers and construction seemed really good quality and really really wanted to like it but it is a VERY cold jacket! I am used to cold temps in MN and wore a MH Tech jacket all winter the last few years so I was figuring this was a good upgrade.....WRONG! I froze my tail off in just mid 30's temps where my MH Tech feels fine even at 20. It is the first Arcteryx jacket I have owned and will probably be the last. Seems for the price it is just more hype than technology.
Great, with one caveat
This is my go-to jacket for just about all occasions. It blocks heavy wind, light rain, and moderate snow like a boss. It's warm and soft and stretchy and well constructed. It's on the pricy side, but worth it since you can give away all your other soft shells. Oh yeah, the caveat? Wife steals it all the time.
