A LANTERN'S LANTERN
This lantern is the lantern's lantern. It's a propane fueled, car camping single tube large mantle lantern, that is very, very bright. In fact, it's one of the brightest lanterns I've ever owned. Plus, it comes with a plastic base to set it in so that it doesn't easily tip over and a hard plastic case that holds everything in. This is a must have for the great outdoors or for any emergency.

Practically daylight
I love this lantern because you don't need more than one to light your campsite. This is the brightest lantern you can get and it's worth the extra care you have to take to keep it safe. The REI picture doesn't show the hard case that doubles as a base/covers the fuel can. Take a look at the "lumens" so you can see how much light a lantern will throw and you'll see that this one rocks. Mantels run about one set per trip as long as you don't touch them.
Not built like they used to be, but still decent
Generally very good. I bought this after the glass shattered in an older Coleman lamp we had. I like the fact that the new one has a rigid case, as well as a stand with fold-out feet. It was a shame however that it was not in the traditional Coleman green, but in black, and used much more plastic in the valve mechism. I also feel that the quality in the gas valve is not what it used to be. It is obvious that the manufacture of these lamps has been outsourced overseas. Overall a decent purchase however, considering the general deterioration in the quality of products overall, an unfortunate reality that is not limited to Coleman.
Lantern Appears OK But A Little Flimsy
The lantern seems to be OK. It was purchased to replace a Coleman lantern which used liquid gas fuel which we had had and used for years. I was unaware that I would have to put the new lantern together after I purchased it. I had to bend a couple of the pieces to get them to fit properly and the two cushioning pads were partially crushed. Overall, the new lantern construction seems a lot flimsier than our current Coleman lantern. I have yet to use the lantern with the propane cartridge so cannot judge its actual operation.
Lantern For Power Outages
Overall a well made product and it's as bright as advertised. Only issue I have is that it's not completely vertical. The lantern tilts to one side after being screwed onto the fuel cylinder. It's not the cylinder that's crooked.
exceptional product
we used this for the first time this past weekend to do a family camping trip. it was great. it was bright and we liked that it was dimmable. previously, we have used battery operated lanterns that we had been given as gifts. we are tired of replacing batteries and bulbs. this has been a great replacement!
Only camping light that has lasted
I have used this lantern camping in all for seasons, with zero issues, for eleven years. It has been dropped and bounced around, in the case, multiple times. Come to think of it, it is the only gear that has lasted this long, besides my camping cutlery.
The light range is amazing!
I bought the Coleman Deluxe Propane Lantern for my husband for Father’s Day this year and he loves it! We often go camping during the warmer months and spend a lot of time outside around the fire pit. This lantern can get as bright as a lightbulb, illuminating the night just like you flipped a switch. It can also be turned down low for a softer glow. The propane use is efficient and the sound of the gas running feels rustic and relaxing. The carrying case is great for keeping the glass globe safe. Just to have all the pieces in one spot makes it more likely you will grab this lantern and bring it along.

Puts out a crazy amount of light
This puts out a crazy amount of light and is relatively easy to use if you are already comfortable with propane canisters and/or camping stoves. Much better lighting than the LED options available on the market, though that technology is constantly improving. I would give it 5 stars if it were more compact. It's too big.
Years of sitting still works great!
This lantern has been sitting for a few years now but it still works like a charm. It is well made built to last for sure!
