Great Produce
this is a great way to pack eggs for a car camping trip. If you leave your eggs in the cardboard container that they come in and put that in a cooler the container will go all sloppy from the ice and your eggs fall out. this keeps the eggs protected while cool in your cooler. I don't know what kind of eggs the other reviewers are using but i havn't had any problems putting large eggs in mine. the only reason i give 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the lack of being water tight, not a big deal, but if an egg were to break it could leak out quite easily and get on the rest of your food. but i have not had any eggs break on several trips.
It's Eggcellent!
This egg holder held my eggs, it's a pretty great product. This is something I definitely wouldn't yolk about.
Handled a 3.5 mile Hike With Ease
This last weekend my buds and I went for our annual weekend hiking/camping trip. It's a 3.5-mile hike in to the site. I was the group pack mule, carrying the heaviest backpack with most of the gear and all of the food. The way I packed, I had absolutely no room for the 2-dozen eggs in their Coghlan's 12-Egg Holders I brought. I ended up giving them to a buddy, who strapped both packs to the belt around his waist, holding his pants up. They slapped against his body the entire time we hiked. When we finally got to the site, I opened them up to find that not a single one was broken and they were still cold. This is one of those purchases that sounds silly, but it makes a world of difference.
Works well - do lay flat while driving
I use this in an RV, as I want to avoid getting bugs aboard "hiding" in the cardboard container. I don't stand it upright though while driving, as the eggs tend to break if you encounter bad roads or if you go off road - lay it flat and all is well. Also, make sure to load the eggs correctly (i.e. round side in the round cup) - then even large eggs will fit.
Eggs n' stuff
It holds eggs. 12 eggs, to be exact. If you like to hold 12 eggs, then this product is for you.
Not the best product and expensive at REI
very expensive at REI-available for about half at other stores. Holder broke eggs when used
Don’t expect much from your four dollar investment
I owned this thing for literally 35 minutes and it broke. I dropped it (without eggs in it) and the two small “latches” if you can call them that, broke. Figured, I could still use it in the fridge at home for egg storage…. Nope, this thing is apparently designed for Robin eggs; you might fit some quail eggs, but chicken eggs from the grocery store? Fagettaboutit!!! Save your four bucks and buy eggs in styrofoam cartons! OMG!!! He said “styrofoam”. That’s the bane of the environment. Don’t worry, the environment will survive, and so will your eggs. Just pack your trash out please.
Works great for medium eggs
I have used this on several car camping trips and it has worked well. We bought regular “large” eggs and chose the smaller ones to bring along. If you buy “medium” eggs you should have no difficulty. Minus one star because why didn’t they just make it bigger?
Funny size ...
The sizing could be better, if you fill it with small size eggs, they have room to jiggle, if you fill if with large size eggs - they touch eachother ... The only way around this issue is to alternate with small / large / small arrangement, which could be annoying.
Not for Large Eggs
It does not fit large eggs, and it is difficult to open the container.
