Features

  • Slowing heat loss and boosting warmth, digaonal-cut foam also reduces volume and weight, making mattress even more packable than the original Therm-a-Rest Standard
  • Digital pressure mapping technology was used to analyze a range of body types in varying sleep positions to identify common areas of pressure
  • To reduce pressure (sore spots), foam padding is die-cut in high-pressure areas (such as hips) to decrease the foam density, hence softening the pressure points for comfort
  • In low-pressure areas (such as knees) full-density foams provide increased cushioning, support and warmth where it's needed most
  • Top is covered with a non-slip textured polyester; reinforced bottom provides added durability
  • The self-inflating Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro sleeping pad comes with its own stuff sack

The key to a good night's sleep

When you have to sleep on a cold, rocky ground you won't get much sleep without additional padding. In the rocky mountains it almost seems too easy to puncture your typical blowup mattress, so these are ideal in such situations. I received two of these as gifts and they've drastically improved the quality of sleep I get while camping. For car campers, I would recommend purchasing a cheaper pad. However, these pads are fantastic for backpacking. They pack down pretty well, and are very light. Not gonna lie though, packing two of them in a row tires out my hands.

Comfy & packs relatively small

The TrailPro kept me comfortable & insulated on a 10-day camping trip where temps dropped to almost freezing at night. I had minimal problems with slippage. The tapered shape didn't bother me, and allows the pad to pack a little tighter. It folds horizontally then rolls up, which allows you to compress it tighter... but it's still a bit bulky for full-on backpacking where packing light is key. Overall, a good compromise between comfort and packability. My mates both use the REI 2.5 sleeping pad, the TrailPro packs much smaller. Also made in USA.

Poor Quality, Not As Expected

I purchased this product for my wife before our Kilimanjaro trek as a safety choice after doing extensive research into the reliability of the newer insulated blow up pads... even the highly rated NeoAir has a large number of serious complaints. So I figured, go with the tried and true. I'm still using a 20 yr old ThermaRest and it works wonderfully. So much for that plan. The pad developed a nonrepairable leak along the seam on day two of our trek. Needless to say we're returning the pad and are going to wait for reviews of the new REI blow up pad to roll in. Hopefully they are manufacturing it themselves and not outsourcing to Big Agnes...because a reliable lightweight sleeping pad is despirately needed. Also note that my 20yr old pad self-inflates better than this pad brand new.

Durable Reliable Essential

I just realized I've had this pad for 4.5 years. It's still in great shape, and I would say on average for the time I've had it, I put it to use about 25-30 nights/year. It is the perfect middle ground, durable enough to throw down on rocky ground, thick enough to provide a great deal of comfort, and still compact and lightweight enough to pack in. If it ever gives up the ghost I will be coming right back to Therm-a-Rest.

Winter... Yes!

Just picked this up since I needed a better pad for the colder months. I need a good pad since I sleep in a hammock and need to stay warm from the wind. This pad is the perfect size and is incredibly warm and super comfortable. Very pleased with my purchase. Whether you are in the trees or sleeping under the stars on the ground this pad is super warm and is sure to keep you comfortable throughout the night.

Great Pad, Needs New Stuff Sack

I use this pad backpacking, and I like it a lot. It's comfortable, and inflates great, but the problem is the way it stores. I have the Crestrail 70 and if I roll it and store it in the stuff sack it comes with, it takes up 1/3 to 1/2 the space in the pack above my sleeping bag. My solution since I like the comfort and thickness was to contact cascade designs and get one of their therma rest "gearview" water proof stuff sacks that are long and narrow. When packing the pad instead of rolling it in half first like a taco, just roll it straight up and leave it 26" wide (I have the large pad) and strap it to a lash point outside the pack and free up all the internal space. plust the gearview stuff sack protects the pad better. Now I just use the original therma rest stuff sack for packing other gear. I used the same solution for my girlfriend and we are both very happy with it.

Great balance between comfort & compact

This sleeping pad kept me comfortable & warm for 9 days in Utah, late October. Temps were in the mid to low 30's at night, just around freezing. My friends have the REI 3.5 pad which is certainly more plush, but this one packs to half the size & is just about as comfortable. The space-saving tapered bottom didn't bother me at all. Won't pack small enough for the hardcore backpackers, however.

Not up to snuff

I am a 10-15 time a year car camper, going out with children and/or buddies about once a month. I've been using the TrailPro for the past 6 or 7 trips. For the past 3 trips I've stored the pad inflated behind our couch as recommended in the instructions. Things I liked about the pad were its ease of inflation, its realitively light weight and its nifty stuff sack. Unfortunately the pad has some sort of slow leak which would leave it with only the padding come morning. In addition, my 6'2" frame must "map" differently than most folks as I got pressure points in my lower ribcage and front of my pelvis even when the pad was fully inflated (before any leaks). Resting on my back would cause my middle back to hurt, something that never happened with my Baseline. I've tried to "live with it" but between the leak and the discomfort THIS TrailPro is going back as soon as I can get back to the store.

Why did I wait so long!

The Trail Pro replaced our cheap inflatable mattress for family car camping trips. What a difference in sleeping comfort. Maiden camping trip was uncommonly cool (sub-40 deg). The Trail Pro did an excellent job insulating me from the cold ground. I tend to sleep on my side...woke up refreshed and no soreness. Have two now for car camping and backpacking. Cannot comment on durability yet.

Don't know how I ever camped without it

Awesome pad! I have taken this pad on numerous camping trips and have no problems at all. It will help keep you warm and keep you from sleeping on rocks. I just roll it out in the tent and let it self inflate while I get a fire going or cook dinner. A few quick breaths into the pad before closing the valve and you're set to have a very comfortable nights rest.
