versatile tool
I'm all for gear with more than one use. Why carry a one-trick pony nut tool when you can carry a nut tool that also tightens bolts? Sure this nut tool is heavier than some, but how many times have you come to a bolt that could use a bit of tightening? Rap stations, particularly those with horizontally spaced bolts, often need tightening and for most stations this nut tool does the job. It doesn't work when the bolt is in a tight space or there is a protrusion, but for an anchor on a flat wall this is all you need to snug up a spinner. I've used it many many times for that purpose and it works well enough to warrant carrying this over my lighter nut tool. As far as removing nuts goes, a butter knife would work just as well but that is true for any and every nut tool I've ever used.
Good tool
This is a good tool. Solid construction--won't bend when you yard on it. The wrench function is cool, but not really practical. The palm guard came off on my first one of these... not while I was using it, either--I just pulled it out one day and there was no palm guard anymore. I hadn't had it that long, so I'm guessing this was a fluke and I just got one with a random bad solder. I've seen many others with this tool and they've had no problems. My replacement seems just fine.
Great Nut Tool
Wire gate is nice and I clip it directly to the harness. The wrench openings are not ideal, but they are great in a pinch where you're halfway up a climb, the bolt is loose, and all you have is the nut tool.
Good Nut Tool
This tool performs its function well. It is strong, and it handles a little more comfortably than its skinnier counterparts. The wiregate is nice; while I'd like to see a bigger gate, I do typically clip it directly to a gear loop.
Only works on pure even surfaces
I think this only works for gyms or artificial walls because if there's only a slight difference in the surface, it is almost imposible to turn the tool as it is too long and has some length to both sides regardless of the nut diameter you select.
Not the tool for me
I bought this tool to replace another that I lost and found that I did not like it so much. The ability to push on the end is a good ides, but the working hook is too small and I did not like the carabiner end either.
A big help
This has worked well for me to take trad out. And like the ability tighten bolts.
