Wet Snow
I was skiing today in the light rain. My skies were hot waxed but I was having trouble with drag. Other skiers were having the same issue. I just bought this product and decided to use it. I went into the lodge and applied a coat to my skis. It worked for 2 runs and kept re-applying. I decided to take a break, dried my skis and re-apply. I took a 40 minute break and went back to ski. I skied for another 2 hours with no issues. This trick is to apply to dry skis and let it dry (common sense I guess). It save my ski day. I recommend for use in wet conditions.
F4 liquid glide wax
Worked well today at Arapahoe basin. My skis had probably 6 -7 days of skiing on them and i started to notice i was sticking in certain spots. Figured I'd try out this liquid glide wax by swix. I usually use oneball or a similar type of rub on wax but i think I'll stick with this stuff. I gave it 4 stars because i only used it in the cold (20-28°F) so I'm not sure how well it works in higher temps but so far I'm happy with it. You have to press down a bit to get the liquid to come out, let the alcohol solvent dissolve then you will see a coating of wax, buff with the bottom part of the container and you're good to go.
Easy Wax with some Drawbacks
Picked up this wax after only hot waxing my cross country skis for as long as I've skied. I learned how to wax skis from the best, and the coaches I learned waxing technique from have spent years as ski techs for the US olympic team. I have to say this is quite amazing! It's very easy to apply and use. I have used it now on about 25k of (skate) skiing over a few days and I'm really surprised that the "all temperature" is really as stated. I've so far used this between 0-34 degrees F, on icy and wet snow, and it's performed well. My ONLY complaint is that it tends to wear down and is noticeably sluggish after about 4-7km in a day depending on snow conditions. Easy to re-apply since you only need 5 minutes to "cure" the wax, but still a drawback. Not a full replacement for a hot wax that's done for specific conditions, but I am very impressed!! I will definitely be keeping this in my ski arsenal.
Swix F4
I was searching for a way to condition my snowboard that hadn’t seen action at all last season. With a little internet sleuthing I found this product, headed to REI to discuss with an employee, and purchased. This product was so convenient, easy, and it served my immediate need. It’s also packaged to keep in a pocket to keep one gliding smoothly on the slopes. (That said, I highly recommend reading the application directions because it needs a few minutes of cure time.) Also, while talking to employee, I learned members can get a free hot wax.
the go to wax
the easy to carry and apply on the go wax. if you really want it to work great, bring your skis in the house, let them come up to room temperature, apply the wax heavily and leave overnight buff with a cloth or paper towel the next morning and you are ready to go for the day. I always carry this, save others on the trail more than myself, as I pre-apply
Must have for "waxless" skis!
In my area, Northeastern Illinois, it is common to have a slushy base under the powder, or just playing mushy snow. The snow will freeze on the skis and stop you cold. This wax solves the problem. I've also used Maxiglide with good results, but this was available at my local outlet instead so I grabbed it. Just wax the skis fore and aft, not on the fish scales if practical.
2nd Best to Hot Wax
I have been using this for 6 years on my nordic back country, skate and classic skis. It helps when you don't have time to do a full hot wax on your skis. Apply in multiple layers and you should be good for a full day of skiing.
Goes on Easy
Liquid F4 with built in applicator goes on easy and rubs out quickly. It does not last as long as the old F4 past wax. So you have to apply more often. Every time you go out or every other trip. Old past wax would last 3-4 days of use.
Keeps skis from sticking to the snow
My family uses this for xc skiing for the last few years. Application is easy and this size bottle lasts us about two years.
Best product EVER!
THANKS! This wax is as easy to use as under-arm deodorant (and it looks like Right Guard too!) My skis have never been better.
