Excellent Dual Purpose Cover
These covers are made with very durable heavy impermeable material with reinforced, gripping edge pockets for the thick bungee. It's that time of year to seal up the boats for storage and I have no doubt my Perception Monterey , Dagger Calisto & Wilderness Systems Tsunami are well sealed. The cockpit size fit chart they provide at their website is spot on for more kayak models than I knew existed.
"tougher than a wild rabbit"
Decided to get a cockpit cover when I found a wild rabbit hiding inside my kayak. I've been shaking out the leaves and spiders before heading for the water... But what a surprise when a rabbit fell out! The 1.4 was a perfect fit for our Wavesport Projects, the strap gives that extra assurance so you won't loose a cover while transporting at speed. The cover is well made and durable... Others commented they will last for years. No more wild rabbits!
sure helps on keeping the wind out
the reason for four stars is . because it does not keep your cockpit all the way dry . it does do a good job on keeping the rain out . the other reason for four stars is because of the strap that goes around the kayak should of been sewn to the loop so you couldn't lose it or miss place it i'd take something stiff like cardboard and cut to hold the center of the cover up so the rain can't puddle in the middle of the cover . then i'd put tape on the edges of the cardboard so the edges wont cut anything other than that it's a good heavy cockpit cover for the money .
Good, secure fit
I went through the website, found my boat, and ordered the indicated size. It fit perfectly. Keeps the critters and creepies out during storage. The strap around the underside of the boat assures that the cover will stay in place while transporting the boat,
Perfect for keeping out the critters
I needed a cockpit cover that was tight enough not to fall off, but was easy to put on. This cockpit cover is the perfect fit for my Wilderness Systems Tempest 170 RM. After watching the Seals video on how to install the cover, installation was a breeze.
Manufacturer's sizing chart is inaccurate
I purchased this size based on the manufacturer's sizing chart found on the Seals website. My kayak is Seda Ikuma 15. The cockpit cover is too tight for my 67-year old arms to install. Maybe a bodybuilder could do it but I'm not strong enough to stretch it. I'm returning it ($5.99 shipping return cost) and will try a different size.
Great Cockpit cover
Extremely well made and a great fit. I ordered it for my Looksha IV HV and I’m very pleased.
Solid unit so far
This was purchased to replace a laminated fabric unit that had delaminated and started to disintegrate. So far, this one seems considerably tougher and certainly more waterproof. It doesn't compact nearly as well, so, it's more bulky to store, but that's a very small issue. I've only had it in use for a couple of months, so, we'll see if delamination, etc. become problems in the future.
Great product
I have been using a Seals 1.4 w/p cover on my Tempest 170 for about ten years and it still functions great. Surprisingly the original bungee still provides a snug fit that has retained its flexibility over the years. Through torrential downpours, snow storms, and 70+mph winds, this cover has proven to provide excellent protection for my kayaks.
