Weiner Skagit Snapped

I'm only going on my 3rd year using this paddle. I put it in the water for the first time this season, and it snapped like a twig with hardly any pressure on it. For $200+ carbon, I would expect for this not to happen after only 2 full seasons of about less than 20 paddles in each of the last, free years. I would like a replacement, if we could start that process. If it breaks again, I will not ask for another replacement, but will take my business elsewhere. Please let me know what to do to start the process of replacement. Thank you.

TN River Approved

I used this for 5 weeks while kayaking the length of the TN River. This was my first kayaking paddle so I don’t have much to compare it to, but honestly can’t imagine what else someone could look for in a paddle. Super lightweight and yet totally rigid, with no give at all in shaft or blades. Never had any difficulty with or reason to doubt the locking system, and the halves come apart and back together very easily. I briefly tried out my buddy’s $120 paddle from Amazon and man, I was so happy I spent the extra $$$ for this one!

Great Paddle

I got this paddle as my first "expensive" paddle. I'm very happy with the quality. It just feels good in my hands. The precise feather adjustment works great and doesn't wobble at all. The blades are great for paddling in the wind with their low profile. And most important it's still like new after a few seasons!

A good, solid, lightweight paddle

I've paddled many miles with this. Pushed off of sand bars, through narrow muddy banks, through windfalls, slush, and ice. It fits very well on the side of my Loon 138. It floats. It's light. It has five feathering angles. Good power stroke, good maneuverability. Not especially fantastic in any of those but GREAT overall utility.

Good for canoeing too, almost.

Everything about it is great - construction, weight, features - for use with a narrow canoe, except for the blade shape. It's too cupped, combined with too steep an angle on the lower inside curve, resulting with water pouring off that corner. The drip rings are useless no matter where you put them. Also (this is not a defect per se), the sizing charts I consulted were way off. I bought this for my Wenonah Sandpiper (25" wide, 12" deep) and got the 220cm as per the charts. Not even close. Water pours off the blades into the canoe by several inches. Turns out I would also like adjustable length and more feathering options, so I'm replacing it with an Accent Ultimate Angler 240-260cm.

great kayak paddle

Originally I purchased the 220 length as recomemded but found this length to short. After moving up to the 240 length I found this to be an excellent paddle, lightweight, and excellent quality. I love the two piece connector, it fits together with great precision and cliks together solidly.

Worked great for 420 miles up the inside passage

I purchased this paddle for a trip several years ago sea kayaking from Friday Island to Alaska. The paddle's quality was great, and the light weight helped keep the fatigue down on long days. My only complaint is the button for breaking the paddle in half was prone to getting sand/debris in it and then not functioning easily.

The only paddle you will ever need

I am relatively new to kayaking and this is my first Werner paddle. I was using the Aqua Bound Manta Ray Hybrid paddle which is a good paddle but the Werner is something else. Paddling with it is effortless. It amazes me that this is an entry level paddle from Werner. I also did some research on length for me and bought the 130cm paddle. My Aqua Bound is 140cm. I am 6’1 and sit tall. I have a Tsunami 125 kayak. Shorter paddle seems counterintuitive but it was much better for me.

First carbon paddle

Of course, I figured this paddle would be a step up from my 2 piece aluminum.....but I wasn't expecting this! The weight is great. The length(240cm) is great. The fact that I can adjust my angle 4 different ways from 0 degrees, right or left is great. The low profile release button that doesn't get in my way is great. Did a 7 mile trip a few days ago(first trip since the purchase) and the Werner Skagit CF did not disappoint!!

Well balanced light weight

I broke my wrist mountain biking and needed a very light weight paddle. This paddle fits the bill. It is light weight enough that paddling does not bother my wrist at all. It is the paddle that makes the biggest difference in kayaking. Not the boat.
