I love my MSR Titan mug, but there is a lot of technique involved in sipping hot liquids out of a titanium mug without burning your lips. When I saw this Snow Peak product I knew this was the answer, and I'm happy to say that it works just as well on my MSR Titan as I imagine it does on the Snow Peak mug for which it was intended. This is a great idea and a great product. I've only used it briefly, so I can't speak to the long term durability, but it feels like it will last for a long time.
Got one set to put with my Esbit stove kit. I find it works so well, I'm getting another pack in my next order. They are so light and useful that the small weight isn't worth worrying about compared to the freedom to use one cup to boil water and drink from. WAY better than waiting for it to get cool enough to drink so you don't burn your lips, but too cool to do you any real good. I do recommend carrying a spare. Color makes easier to spot where you set it or that it is still on the cup before you heat the next batch. But if it goes missing or you forget to take it off before reheating water - well, having an extra comes in handy. Just saying...
Works w/ Trek 700 and the Single Wall 450 Mug too, just sayin'.
For an ultralight fan, this is a luxury. Bought the pack and gave my backpacking buddy the other for his birthday. He was thrilled. There are a couple drawbacks. If you go to make that second cup of coffee or cocoa, you have to remember to stuff this into your pocket while you heat the new water in your cup. Also, it doesn't "snap" on; it sort of hugs the lip of your mug/pot, so you have to be careful not to lose it if the pot brushes up against something when you're packing or unpacking your gear. That's the only drawback I see that may be solved by the product designers. Otherwise, I agree with the other reviewer. When you're cold and want a hot drink, it's nice that you don't have to let it cool down in order to touch the cup to your lips! *Cool* idea.
Not only does this prevent burning your bottom lip, but the rounded, thicker edge makes drinking much more pleasant than sipping from the thin metal rim. While the packaging specifies these are for the 600 and up mugs and pots, they are perfect on the 450 mugs we have.
I saw this on the website and was inmmediately intrigued. I like many of you like to drink my coffee HOT, not luke warm. But when you are dealing with a titanium mug the heat transfers quite easily, burning the heck out of your lips. The snow peak Hot Lips easily solves that problem, and to answer that burning question on everyone's mind, it will fit a double wall mug too. I have an REI TiWare double wall mug and it fits beautifully. Hope this helps.
Fits perfect and snug on my toaks 750 and 900. Good for sipping g but if you're a fast drinker it will want to spill around the sides where it attaches "at least for me" can't co.plain though most people won't be chugging their drinks. Good product and a nice luxury.
This product does exactly what it is supposed to. I am able to have warm drinks without burning my mouth on hot metal. It works with the "GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Bottle Cup/Pot" as well.
I bought a set of these for my titanium Evernew mug and it's a perfect fit for that one too. As the others have said, it makes sipping hot coffee, etc. from a ti mug a much more pleasant experience. Snow Peak is brilliant when it comes to design solutions like this.
They do an excellent job keeping my lips from burning, and also to just have a smooth flow. I actually only needed one, but the two of them together also serve well to squeeze in between my gas cannister and my 500 ml Toaks pot wall, preventing any rattling.
