Not up to century+.
This is definitely a non-messy solution to the chafe problem. It worked well for me in rides through a variety of climates up to the metric-century level. At century and above distances, it doesn't provide enough protection to not have issues. I think I would recommend it for distances under 50mi or so. I agree with the other reviewer that since I have it, I will probably use this on the chamois itself and then use something else for the skin to ensure no saddle sores.
Possibly the New Go-To
I've been using traditional chamois cremes for years, and often default to the single-serve packets for traveling ... this time I happened to see the balm stick next to what I was about to purchase, and thought I'd give it a try. It's easier to carry and get through airport security, and less messy to apply! I've put in some long days on the saddle with this (one at 150mi) and am happy to say this performs/protects just as well as a chamois creme. I think I've found a new default product!
Wouldn't buy again
I've always used Chamois Butt'r, but thought I'd give this Cham. Glide a try. I've used it pretty consistently for the past 2 months on rides ranging from 1-4 hours. It's okay, but not as effective as Chamois Butt'r, which I'll be going back to. I do like what it does on chamois, but it really doesn't provide much protection / relief when applied directly to the skin itself. So if you just looking for something to soften up the chammy, I guess it's a safe bet.
Works Great Once Sweating Begins
Application is best for those clean shaven in “tender” areas. Minor friction until sweating commences, then Glides works wonders (cycled for hours without chafing concerns).
It works
This product works however if it gets hot it will kinda melt and usually I leave it in my car since I meet up with others to ride, I would have preferred something in a tube it’s better contained
no more saddle sores!
After experiencing off-and-on problems with saddle sores I started using this and have had no further problems. Also, not “greasy” like Bag Balm (which also works, but - greasy)
The best you can buy
Very effective in preventing saddle sores. I've been using Bodyglide Cycle for over a year, riding my road bike 100-150 miles per week. The fact it is not wet and gooey (like competing products) allows it breathe, which I believe is a major factor in preventing clogged pores and saddle sores.
No More Chafing
Got this for my longer rides and it works great. Easy to use, not sticky or messy and doesn't stain clothes.
Much more comfortable than chamois ream
This is by far the best thing I have found as anti chafe. It is slick enough that my skin slides instead of sticking and the sweat seems to go through it instead of softening the skin. I have not used it in the summer but I sweat year round. It is also not so gross to apply being a gel stick.
Good for General Use
I don't find this product thick enough to be effective for cycling. I use the butter product instead. However, it worked extremely well to keep my wife from getting rashes on her ankles from sock irritation when hiking in the mountains. She tried several other solutions to no avail. I suggested she give it a try and never once in a dozen all-day hikes did she develop the rash. Not for biking, but good for hiking.
