Long term review- good for light use
I have had a pair of these for over 3 years, and thought I would give a long term review of these. For those who care and notice, REI did not provide these specs: the shoes (for size 11 men's) weigh 1 lb, 4 oz (580 g). Original opinion of slippers was "the cheap rubber sole is just stitched to the slipper, and the way it is stitched will wear down with simple walking and fall off. What junk. Thank goodness for the REI satisfaction guarantee." Please notice I have owned the same pair of slips for over 3 years. I was wrong. The sole and it's stitching do not lie on the same plane you typically scuff your heel, so for the most part, you never scuff the stitches. The stitching you do scuff off does not seem to destroy the shoe. My right shoe is missing one or two stitches and the heel seems as secure as the other ("pristine") stitches. (Picture attached showing this.) The sole itself seems pretty durable. I have worn it around the house, the mall, in the car, light walks to the corner store, etc. They have also travelled in backpacks, suitcases, and such. So far, they have experienced light wear but no sign of wearing through. Insole is worn, but not destroyed. If I wanted to, I might buy a pair of inserts to extend this, but it is a slipper, so I don't mind using a compressed insole. Comfort and support are what one should expect from a non-rigid slipper. Minimal, but cozy and warm. Unlike some reviews I have seen, after 3 years, the inner lining does not seem to be shedding, falling apart, or in very poor shape at all. I am pleasantly surprised at the condition it is in. Exterior wear and tear are minimal. A few stains from spilled food aside, the stitching and material are in solid shape, with no apparent/major stitch issues. Nothing is spitting, and no "home made shoe repairs" have been used to date. I have attached a picture hopefully showing the general condition of the shoe after 3 years use. All in all, this slipper looks like it has at least another 3 years of life to it if treated well. I only give it a 4-star because I still don't like the soles, even though they have lasted 3 years inside and out. Maybe I am too picky. Hope this helps!
Best Slippers Ever
I put these on in the store, and knew right away I was taking them home. The unique design of the ankle area works perfectly for me. Instead of a typical collar-like opening, it is cut and flared. This means there is NO pressure on the ankle area, yet the rest of the slipper is cut in such a way that it does not fall off. The cushioning on the inside is soft and warm, and when these are on, I feel like I have clouds on my feet. The rubber sole is quiet indoors, and grips well on wood floors. The rubber sole also means I can run outside real quick and not ruin the sole. I cannot recommend these slippers enough, especially for the current sale price.
Comfortable house slipper
You may want to order half-size larger or try on in store. A 12 fit perfectly, I usually fit 11 or 11.5. Very comfortable. Shaped sole looks like it will hold it's shape and not distort/roll with age. Robust stitching. Reasonably light weight. Good grip on wood floors, quiet, but not too sticky. My key purchasing point- Removable sheepskin footbed can be replaced with any inexpensive aftermarket one (buy them oversized and then cut with scissors for perfect fit), instead of having to buy new slippers. Generally, sheepskin footbeds tend to flatten/wear quickly. Warm. Easy to don and doff. Looks dorky like any house slipper, so don't go dancing with them. Overall good value.
Best Cold Country Slippers Made
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in northern Minnesota and our winters are unforgiving and bitter cold. I have been wearing this style slipper for more than 7 years now and have had to replace them when I wear them out. I am tough on slippers but these slippers hold up better than any other I have purchased over the years. I go outside in -30 degree below zero weather to get the mail at the end of our long driveway and they keep my feet toasty warm. This last purchase was my third pair. And I wear them year round. These slippers definitely hold up to the Sorel name.
Very nice comfy slippers
I tried these on in the store, along with the lower-heeled Falcon Ridge model. The Manawans feel more secure and I would imagine are warmer as they cover the back of your heel. I went up a full size and got a perfect fit. Easy to pull on, totally comfortable. We have tile and hardwood in most of the house and I've really enjoyed the slippers so far. Great to pull 'em on in the morning for making coffee and oatmeal in the tile-floored kitchen. I've always just worn socks around the house on cool days, but I'm now a slipper convert. Excellent product, just right.
Sorel Manawan slipers
I purchased a similar pair from another company and was not satisfied. So I began the search for another pain. Since I have purchased Sorel boots before, I thought would try their slipers. I have had them for nearly a month, and I love them. They are a a significant improvement over the other pair I previously purchased. They fit well, are made better and now I can wear them outdoors for getting mail, paper etc , and they are very warm. They also came w/free shipping, a good deal. I am very satisfied and would buy again and recommend them to my friends. I would have given a 5 star rating but I have only had them for less than a month.
Great Slippers!
I am glad that I heeded the previous reviews when I ordered these slippers. They do run a full size small. I normally wear a size 12 and the 13 fits perfectly. However, that is the only downside and I love these slippers. They do not have the useless ties that seem to come untied at inconvenient moments. They also fit more snugly on the foot since the rear of the slipper comes higher on the ankle. In short, I would buy these again in a heartbeat.
Snug but great
When I ordered these slippers I measured my feet and saw I was between sizes according to the chart on this site. I ordered the larger size and was very surprised when I put the slippers on for the first time and found them too small! At first I was very disappointed and considered sending them back but then I gave them a second chance and after walking in them for a couple of days they loosened a bit and became very comfortable. I would recommend measuring your exact size before ordering these and then letting them a chance to loosen. Once they do, they're great! They feel very warm and nice on the feet.
Excellent fit and finish
The Manawan slippers are, without question, the best slippers I have ever owned. I'd read several reviews on Amazon that lead me to believe the Manawans ran a little small but I didn't find that to be the case and I would say that is true: I wear size 14 normally so I ordered 15 and found them to be perfect. Workmanship and overall quality are what I've come to expect from Sorel, i.e., excellent, and they're quite good looking to boot (sorry, couldn't resist). And did i mention they're warm? Indeed. Warm enough to make a caribou sweat. An excellent pair of slippers that I would highly recommend.
I would recomend this slipper
I was going to be off work for 6 weeks and wanted a new pair of slippers that were comfortable to wear all day if needed and boy do these fit the bill. Feet never get cold and I have to check my feet when I leave the house or I will forget I have them on. Great product.
