Perfectly fine - but grommets are for FastFly only
The grommets are obviously not designed to be used when the tent poles are being used to hold up the tent. The grommets are ONLY useful when it is being used in the FastFly configuration with NO tent. In that case the poles keep the footprint taut and works great. Very cool idea for a super fast shelter. When used with a tent, the footprint just lies on the ground detached from the tent like every other footprint I've ever used. It's trival to tug the corners for optimal positioning after pitching the tent. However I would agree that it would be a nice extra to actually be able to tighten the straps which would allow you to keep the tent poles in the grommets when used with the tent.
Just ok
Like the lite weight and compact size of foot print. The fit is very poor! It does cover the bottom of tent but doesn't stay hooked in the poles. Once you get it to stay in you can not move the tent around.
Does not fit, color coding is backwards
This does not fit with the Copper Spur UL2 as it is advertised. The grommets are too loose so that it falls off the tent poles if you try to reposition your tent at all. Further, the color coding of the top/bottom straps are the opposite of the color coding for the tent. So they are useless and always lead to confusion. For $70, these are two pretty big screw-ups on the part of Big Agnes. I love my tent, but how could these footprints be so shoddily made? They are worth maybe $30 until BA fixes these issues.
Does not stay attached to tent
This footprint is most likely designed to excel in use without the tent body. It easily becomes detached from beneath the tent with the slightest adjustment in tent placement. I spoke with someone at Big Agnes about this. No plans are in the works to make this a better fit to the tent floor and he suggested staking out the footprint separately. I understand. But in reality, it is nice to be able to alter tent placement while protecting the delicate tent floor. This is an expensive product and I was hoping for a bit more from BA.
Worked perfectly
I started my Appalachian Trail thru hike without a footprint (to save weight), but after about a week I quickly added this to my backpack and was very happy with the result. This protected my prized possesion of Big Agnes tent and helped keep the tent more waterproof, which was very important when out for five months at a time. The footprint fit my tent well and I won't ever use my tent again without ensure I use the footprint first. Highly recommend the addition, especially if unsure of the terrain and ground conditions.
Need adjustable straps
Listen up Big Agnes. Make each of the four corner straps adjustable so that it will be taught in any configuration. I'm adding more grommets, but making it like you did with the fly would be best. It's amazing how something so simple can be overlooked.
Design Flaw
I just opened my Copper Spur and footprint and the instructions state the color webbing for the top of the tent is the same as the color for the webbing at the bottom of the footprint and vice versa. Why they did not choose to match the webbing so that orange is for the top of both and gray for the bottom I do not know. While personally I will not forget this during set up, as it annoyed me, I think it could be revised to be more logical.
Doesnt fit well
The web straps are too long, and do not keep the footprint tight when pitched with poles in the grommets.
Smaller than specified
Footprint seems fine, appropriately light weight, except dimensions of the area covered by the cloth are smaller than specified. My sample measured 45 inches by 86 inches. I ordered this footprint on sale to fit a different tent, so the dimensions were important to me.
Model mismatch
I bought this for a newer HV UL2 that I purchased previously. Pay special attention to the shape of the quick squeeze clasps in the picture. My tent has a much more open female side and the male side has a circular protrusion in the middle. I returned it to my local REI and they ordered the right one for me.
