Simple way to
These are very basic velcro straps used to help keep your skis together. I think their intention is to use one strap above the bindings and one strap below, but we used one strap each on two separate pairs of skis and that worked all the same. It's just a little added security for holding the skis to each other. Definitely beneficial when carrying them, and they seemed more rugged compared to other rubber/silicone-style ones I saw (I could be wrong, but I would imagine the edge of the ski would degrade and/or cut the rubber over time and break). They're also small enough to just put in your jacket/pants pocket when not in use.
simple and functional
I have had my swix straps for eight years and it still functions exactly like the day I bought them. Really good for visibility when you have your skis stacked in a pile with many other skis.

Used less than one season and already falling apart, unlike another make that I have which is much older
