Works Perfectly- after demo
I read the reviews before going to my local REI and was a bit suspicious. Bought it, brought it to my awaiting bike, tried it, and blew half the air out of my tire. Something told me that REI would not sell such a seemingly well-built product that was totally worthless- so I brought my bike in and asked them to demo it. Here's the trick- It gets the reading in about a billionth of a second. If you hear air escaping- it's been on too long. I've been riding 50 years, and am accustomed to old pressure gauges that had to be held onto the valve with force to get a reading. This puppy gets its reading in a flash, holds the value, and only resets when you push the button. By induction and deduction, I believe that they users who couldn't get it to work tried to hold it on the valve, as I had. Really, it takes a billionth of a second to get the reading. I timed it.

An exercise in futility
This simply does not work. I have presta valves. I am a moderately intelligent and capable individual who has been able to pump up tires and check air pressure on cars, bikes, etc for my entire life. Why is it that air blasts out of my tires every time I put this gauge to the valves? Other commenters say that you only need to tap the valve quickly into the gauge. That doesn't work for me. That only results in a quick burst of air coming out instead of a long burst of air. What's cool about this is that after I've used it, I know exactly how much air pressure is in my tire = 0 psi. What a disappointment. Even if it is user error, it shouldn't be this hard to check how much air is in your tires. Returned.

Dont leave home without it !!!

I worked in the bike industry for 20 years As a mechanic I kept this gauge in my apron at all times, telling tire pressure with your hands is like telling the future "your only guessing and not really accurate" Accurate tire inflation is important not only for a better ride experience but for safety as well. I have had the same Planet Bike tire gauge with me for over 4 years and have used it almost every day, it works for me on both Schrader and presta , while it is more finicky on presta you just need to know how to use it. as of late I am long distance touring Cyclist and have been on the road for about a year, having a correct tire pressure keeps me on the road and enjoying the ride. I highly recommend this gauge Remember "Ride the miles....Enjoy the Smiles"

Accurate, sturdy and easy to use

Gauge feels well built and sturdy ... and heavy. Measures accurately. A note regarding comments about presta valves. The gauge works fine with presta valves, however, the presta adapter which comes screwed into the gauge has a small O-ring inside which forms the seal. If you remove the presta adapter, the O-ring can fall out if you are not careful. My assumption is those having a problem with the presta valve have lost the O-ring.

Works for me

I just got back into biking and my new bike has presta valves. I needed a gauge that would work on them and this is the one. I was nervous at first not being familiar with this style of valve so I was hesitant but jist like those who said it worked for them, it did for me as well. Set the valve up and just a little push and done. Had my reading and good to go. Plus this thing is built to last. I wasn't expecting it to be metal as the last gauge I had was plastic. This thing is bullet proof

What did you expect?

That escaping air the presta valve is the gauge filling up; I don't know what you expected but ALL GAUGES DO THAT, it is insignificant. The tool is very accurate and confirms my SKS AIRKOMPRESSOR floor pump gauge which has always been perfect, German gauge perfect. The mini pumps don't have gauges and now I don't have to guess. An extremely well built tool, metal and glass not plastic junk.

Accurate, works most of the time

For Presta valves you do have to use the technique described by other reviewers - a very quick jab on/off. If you do that it is accurate and easy to use but I have found it varies by brand of tube. On Bontrager and REI (Novara) tubes it works fine. I cannot get it to work on the Continental tube I have in my front tire right now - it just won't form a seal even for a split second. Apart from that this gauge is accurate, light and easy to use.

Works Great

I wanted a separate tire gauge because I wasn't sure about the accuracy of the gauge on my tire pump. I was hesitant to buy this one due to the wildly mixed reviews, however I thought it was worth a try for $18. It works like a charm every time on road bike Presta valves and gives a reading that matches my tire pump gauge. I have not tried it on Schrader valves.

Poor quality seal

The rubber seal popped out of the tire gauge a couple of weeks ago and I cannot repair it.

Piece Of Junk

I agree with most of the reviews on this product. COMPLETE PIECE OF JUNK! Doesn't fit firmly over the top of a presta valve so the air just leaks out and you get a very low pressure reading and it actually lets all the air out of your tire. Yes, I made sure that the little rubber piece was there and I tried numerous times to get it to work. I literally had to keep pumping up my tire because it just lets the air out as it's trying to get a tight seal around the valve. Returning it today for my money back. Don't buy this.
