I've probably been through enough of the ultralight Slime tubes to finance half of a conversion to tubeless - my ancient wheelset just isn't up to it. While I save up for a new bike I've switched to these. Pretty much all the flora here both native and invasive takes the position that the best defense is a sharp offense. Commuting to work 2-3 x a week and the occasional weekend trail ride meant I was putting as much mileage on my tire levers as on my bike until I put liners in and switched to these. At least now with careful riding I can make it a few weeks between flats. And weight? I step on the scales and I know I don't need to be geeking out over my bike.

Lots of Problems

Bought 2 of these for a ride on the Trail of the Couer d'Alenes in Idaho. When I got to Idaho discovered that the Schrader valve in the front tire was completely sealed by the Green Gunk....couldn't check the pressure, add air, deflate. Replaced the Schrader valve w/ a new one and experienced the same result. Meanwhile, the rear tire was flat. Removed the tube and found a tiny slit on the inner side (valve stem side)of the tube. This may have been the result of installation at REI, but was not sealed by the Slime. Reinflated and rotated tire and it still leaked. End Result: Replaced both tubes w/ standard tubes and had a great 73 mile ride.

Garbage Tubes

I bought two of these tubes and installed them in the tires. Several months later and with less than 2 hours of riding time on the tires, I was riding the bike and had a flat on the front tire. The tube failed at the junction of the stem and tube. After replacing the front tube, the bike was sitting and not being used and the rear tire went flat. After a failed attempt at putting air in it, I checked to see what the issue was and as was the case with the front tire, it was a failure at the junction of the tube and stem. It wasn't doing anything and failed!!! In buying a slime tube I thought I was getting peace of mind knowing that I won't have to deal with a flat tire. How wrong I was.

They are working great so far

I think they call it "the system" here in NM. I use liners, Mr. Tuffy and then the Slime tubes. Seems to help quite a bit. 2013 Albuquerque had lots of rain, ergo, lots of large puncture vines. That crop seemed to produce large goat heads. So the "system" is working so far and I'd rather ride that fix flats. Jim

Failed

I bought this tube to have as a spare, went to pump up my tires, the tube was flat. I changed to this tube, pumped it up and waited till next day to ride. Went for a ride in the woods, mile 17, woosh! Flat tire, now I don't have another spare yet, have to walk home 3.5 miles in bike shoes. I wonder is there a shelf life for these, I took it out of the wrapping plastic before I put n my bike, thought it was OK.

Worthless

I live in goathead heaven, and usually get a puncture about every other ride. I have had marginal success with adding 4oz of liquid Slime to my tubes, but thought I would give these a try due to their claim of being "lighter". Well, first ride out, and one small goathead did the tube in. No Slime came out of the puncture, so that tells me that they make these tubes "lighter" by adding only a drop of Slime to them. I did add one star for the fact that the tubes come with a nice all-metal Schrader valve stem.

THESE ARE AWFUL

I will be returning my 3rd and final tube within the last week. The 2nd one exploded "slime" all over my living room. Yes, the bike was sitting there parked. The seam split on this last one.

still got flats

Go to eastern oregon a bit, where they have "goatheads". Was always getting flats. Some locals told me to get slime tubes, and my worrys would be over. On first short ride, mainly on asphault bike paths, got 3 flats out of 4 tires, so the goatheads prevailed. Dont plan on these saving you from flats if you are near goatheads.
