MSR  Dragonfly Expedition Service Kit

This kit is amazing. Simply do this if you own an MSR Dragonfly. 1. Buy the kit 2. Watch the MSR Dragonfly service video 3. Make the time and service the burner My 20 year old burner works great and the service adds more efficiency and lifespan. Used in extreme conditions and still the best burner on the trail. When serviced, this burner continues to have the power to cook any dinner, lunch, breakfast, desert, and of course percolated coffee. Take care of this workhorse and it’s a lifelong companion.

The MSR DRAGONFLY EXPEDITION SERVICE KIT appears to be a complete service kit for the DRAGONFLY stove and pump. The package states that it includes flame spreader, cool tool, jet cleaning wire, jet and cable tool, safety pin, pump cup oil, dip tube filter, check valve ball, check valve spring, check valve plug, fuel tube bushing, Dragonfly G and K jets, shaker needle with cover, air tube, dip tube, 2 fuel line filters, 2 fuel tube O-rings, 2 fuel bottle O-rings, 2 control valve O-rings, and 2 flame adjuster O-rings. There is also a set of instructions. The Service Kit that I purchased July 2012 has a request that you replace your old pump check valve assembly with the new one in the kit. Both the stove pump and the spare pump that I purchased with the Service Kit have the new check valve. The Service Kit is in a plastic box that is about 1x2.5x5.75 inches. I suspect that the box and instructions weigh more than all the tools and parts together. The whole Kit weighs 3 7/8 oz - not a feather, but if your stove or pump fails in the backcountry, it could be a life-saver.

I had picked up and old Dragonfly off Craigslist and it wasn't working. This kit provided everything but the very outer metal parts of the stove and rebuilt it with full confidence to be able to take it in the backcountry. Although I only needed the stove parts and directions, the kit also can rebuild the pump.

Used the kit on my (15 year old?) Dragonfly. The stoves performance dropped so slowly over the years, I never noticed -till the rebuild and cleaning. Ready for years more use. Great video instructions by MSR too.

Everything you might need in a little box. That's very convenient. But why wouldn't you make the tool out of rustproof steel? Mine was stored in humid conditions during my expedition and now it's all rusty. Moreover, the spare filter is now ruined, and some other tools are gone the same way. I'm no gear engineer but I thought that outdoor gear is supposed to be rustproof.

MSR products are great. The Dragonfly stove is what won me over years ago. This kit has everything you need to rebuild the stove. Replace parts only as needed and they will last season after season.

Honestly this has everything you would need so im perfectly happy with it. The price as with all MSR stuff is a little high, but I need it for my Stove so whadda ya gunna do? Good Quality it seems.

Very please with the service kit. It came very quickly and now the stove is working real good. Nice to be able to service my old stove. My granddaughter has it now! Thanks.

haent yet used the overhaul kit but appears to be good quality and no defects that i can see like i say i rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it
