Perfect and Necessary for my Pooch

We have a super small toy poodle whose love of the outdoors defies his size and stereotypes about his breed. He loves to swim and play in the water and ride on my kayak. I wouldn't allow him to do any of these things without his Float Coat! Sure, he can swim, but he's small. It gives me ease of mind to know that he's assisted by this PFD. The fit is perfect and doesn't obscure his swim stroke. He doesn't mind it at all, and now he actually will not get in the water until I put it on him. Call me crazy, but I'm convinced that he knows it helps him float. I will never let another dog of mine play in rivers or join my on my kayak without a PFD!

Good for the dog, good for the owner

This jacket is great because it fits well, without chafing or rubbing, so our 45-lb dog can wear it for hours. The handle on top makes it very easy to pull her out of the water onto a kayak or boat without strangling her, because it distributes her weight well between her chest and abdomen. Measure your dog accurately to get the right size. Also, remember that it's not meant for ventilation, so it does get hot under there if your dog doesn't get wet for a long time and is in the sun.

Great Safety Device for pets

We frequently go to lakes and swimming pools with our dog. She loves to swim and hates to be left on shore when you are on a boat or canoe. This device gives us the security to take her with us to watery vacations. It keeps her head out of the water, and the vest even calms her down a little. Without the vest she impulsively runs and swims into the water leaving us to cahnse after her, but with the vest, she thinks she is working dog and is more cautious.

We love the Ruff Wear Float Coats

We have this version and the previous version. We have done post-surgery hydrotherapy with two of our pugs and we love this PFD. For small dogs, the handle is great to help lift them out of the pool or spa. We have video of one of our pugs in action on YouTube ([...]). Check it out!

My dog didn't drown

This was great sea kayaking with my little dog Rosy. She's only 13lbs and not a good swimmer, so I was worried. It fit well and didn't impede her walking (or swimming). I also used this to tether her to the boat, which worked well for reeling her back in.

Great on the beach or the river.

The handle is a great feature for getting the dog back in the boat when she goes over unexpectedly. The vest also works great at the dog beach - no need to worry about the pup getting pushed under by larger or more aggressive animals.

Better than you would think

My dog never complained about it and he gets excited every time he sees the PDF now because he knows it means he gets to go swimming. He wore it all day and never a complaint.
