After suffering with IT band problems in both knees for almost three years, this wrap has saved my ultimate, cycling and backpacking careers! I wasn't sure if it was working at first, but after I figured out the right place to put it and how tight to wrap it (really tight) it has worked perfectly. No more pain! I can run around on the ultimate field for hours at full speed where I was a gimp after 15 minutes before. I've tried everything else and continue to use the foam roller and to stretch, but this wrap is a must have if you suffer from chronic IT band pain.

Rubs when hiking
Penner
This works for me & I thought it would be a lightweight solution for my knee issue. However, when you sweat hiking (ups & downs, on the flat its ok), this begins to rub, I had to take it off or I'd get rubbed off skin. They need to make the "bump" in it's underside (the rest is ok) something else other than neoprene. I am not a fabric expert so can't make a suggestion as to what would work. But the bump's neoprene does rub. Recommend with these caveats.

incredibly Helpful

I just ordered a replacement. I use one of these to offset pain difficulty generated by scar over sciatic nerve from knee replacement interplaying with sciatic problems generated by five bulging discs (yes that is five). For some reason it seems to create a disconnect between the knee scar area and upper traditional sciatic area. Don’t ask me why, but it definitely helps. I use pretty light pressure when I wrap it around leg. It is not a perfect solution for me, but makes all the difference in the world as far as remaining active as a photographer, hiker and skier.

Great product, very effective!

I have been suffering knee pains for many years. I tried many braces, many shoes, but still couldn't completely get rid of the pain. I bought this product for a training of 14 mile trail run. I never got any pain in my knees! One of the catch is that, for long distance runs, like 14 miles, I start to feel the restriction of blood flow for the last 3 miles. Other than that, I highly recommend it!

Helped me finish a marathon

I’ll give a little background: I’m training for my first marathon and have been battling constant injuries the past 6 months. I have terrible plantar fasciitis in my left foot because of a high arch and my pain has migrated since. I couldn’t finish a 3 mile run 21 days ago due to it band issues. I never had an injury like its before but it’s completely debilitating. I could barely lift my knee off of the ground and that pain was unbearable. My pain point was on the outside thigh about 2 inches above my kneecap. My PT suggested foam rolling as well as my trainer but it only aggravated it in all honestly. Advil and foam rolling could not help me at all and this strap was my only chance at running. I tied it on tight race day and finished 4 hours and 46 minutes. Sorry for the long story but I could not overstate how much the pro-tech strapped helped me. Thanks for helping me with one of my bucket list items. FYI: don’t strap it on too tight there’s definitely a thin line between too tonight and just perfect.

No pain for 70+ miles of backpacking

After dealing with IT band pain when backpacking for the last couple of years, I bought a pair of these straps for a trip to Philmont with my son's Boy Scout troop, and they are worth their weight in gold. Previously, I would be in pain after a day of backpacking in the Ozarks and hobbling by the end of the weekend. Even short runs without a pack had become painful. Stretches and exercises didn't help. I bought a pair of these straps a couple of months before Philmont to try while running and was pleased with the results. When it came time for Philmont, I had zero knee pain for the entire 10 day trip going up and down mountains and valleys for 70+ miles. I couldn't be happier. As others have said, they can either slip when sweaty or constrict if too tight requring occassional adjustment throughout the day, but I don't consider that to be an issue. I have to pull up my socks, tie my shoes, and adjust pack straps throughout the day also.

Amazingly Helpful!

I’ve dealt with tendinitis in my IT bands for a long time so I use these on and off on both legs. I’ll wear them on bike rides and while hiking and have had success in both applications. Even during 100 mile MTB races, they seem to keep the discomfort at bay. The key is to wear them from the beginning, if you wait until you feel pain, you’ve already missed the boat. Highly recommended!

Worked for me!

I had to pull off trail last season with IT band issues. Could barely walk after two 20+ mile days. After identifying it was an IT Band issue, I took some additional steps with mobility and strengthening the areas connected to the band. I added this product to the mix and have not looked back. I cannot say with confidence if it was the overall steps or if this product was the game changer. At the price point, if you suffer from any IT band issues, give it a go!

Saved my hobby

I never ever write reviews. These work so well, I had to write a review in the hopes that someone else tries them out. I first felt IT band pain about 2 years ago on a 17 mile day hike. Awful. For the next 6 months, anything past a 5 mile hike and the searing pain would return. I tried foam rolling, stretching, and tedious exercises focused on particular muscles. These all seemed to help somewhat. So the next logical step was to hike the timberline trail. 5 miles in, the sharp red hot stabbing came roaring back. I kept going, which is my own fault. I wish I had found these before that trip, but better late than never. After finding them online, I drove straight to REI and bought them. Immediate relief. I probably haven't found the root cause of why I get IT band syndrome, but these bands have allowed me to enjoy my hobby again. The slow work of stretching and strengthening specific muscles and still finding no relief 6 months in is just too much. I will say that I keep them pretty tight, to the point that they rub and chafe, but that is nothing compared to what I would feel without them.

Helped out my knee pain during runs

I was slightly doubtful about this thing, but my knee pain was pretty bad when I tried to run. I even took a year off from running and did all the stretches that my doctor (and various webpages) told me to do. I decided to give this wrap a shot. The instructions are simple - place the padded part on the outside of the knee where the IT band (or pain) is, just about 3 inches from the top of the knee, and wrap to where it is tight but not painful. I ran for 30 minutes on a treadmill with absolutely no knee pain during or after my run! Before this thing I would be hobbling up and down stairs. I am kind of wary about using it for sports where there are side-to-side movements, like soccer, basketball, etc, because there is not that much support, but for running I think this is a solid product if you have been afflicted with IT band syndrome. Just be sure to do your IT band stretches too!
