Avid  BB7 / Juicy Disc Brake Pads Metal

A Metallic OEM stock replacement pad. They get the job done. Everyone cycles differently. If you wish to upgrade, do a little research. Economically speaking, save your rotors and burn through pads. Performance speaking, stop on a dime and burn through both. Ideally speaking, make them both last. Sintering is how the manufacturer binds together a blend of metallic particles. Some examples are; iron, aluminum, and steel. Organic pads are glass, rubber, kevlar, and that infamous asbestos. The pads work and were fairly straight forward to install. However, if you have big fingers be prepared to be a little frustrated. You have to pinch the pads all the way together while holding the spring to get them to slide into a very narrow space. It took me about ten tries with a couple man-tantrums thrown in before they slid into place. I've had them in my Juicy 5s for about 30 miles of combo dirt and road riding with no problems, squeals or fade.

Great stopping power and well designed to work perfectly with the BB7 caliper that I use. It can easily throw me off of my bike when I grab the front brake lever, but that is the problem. It is more of an on/off thing. There isn't much in between of braking and no-braking. Organic pads modulate much better which allows the rider to have much more control on those long descents. Try the Avid or EBC Organic Pads.

I've had these on both my Avid Juicy 3s and my BB7 brakes. Excellent stopping power. Long lasting. I haven't had to replace them yet and the bike has over 6000 miles on it. I did replace the Juicy 3s. They needed to be completely rebuilt after 3000 miles. This hold be the reason or someone having a stopping power problem. The calipers will stick at time. Lots of maintenance that needs to be done on hydraulics depending on your ring conditions. I ride a mix of streets and paths. The paths have crushed limestone usually and can be very very dusty leading to sticky or worn our hydraulic braking system. They are right down there to get really covered with the stuff. The pads do seems to grab and lock easier. But When thinking about it that happens when I'm in more of a sudden stopping situation. When I don't have to come to a really fast stop they're usually fine, user fault most of the time I've found when they grab. Personally I like the stopping power leaving the smooth slow stops to myself. That's a personal preference though.

I placed brake pads on a GOPED gas scooter that has only front brakes and goes 35mph+ these stop very quickly without throwing me over the bars. I previously has BB5 brakes which took a while to slow down

Have put ~60 miles (Midwest trail MTB, 8k ft descent) on these so far as my rear pads, and great performance. Good initial bite, great fade resistance and stopping power, even in wet conditions.

I thought these pads were alright in the back of my bike, but in the front they would not stop unless I was really pulling on my brake lever. (I have AVID juicy 3 brakes)
