Rated 4 out of 5 by from Did the job I took one of these through Southeast Asia for 2 months and it saved me a few times. It really does the job if you follow the instructions and alternate sides. There were times that I felt it stopped working but then I touch my neck and its all cold. I guess you just get used to it. It won't save you from sweating but it does give you a bit of relief and stops you from overheating. The only con is that its difficult to wash and you have to watch it when traveling. It takes some time for it to dry out so if you're on the go and toss it in your bag constantly then its going to get some funk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kool Tie helps MS As a person with Multiple Sclerosis, I really appreciate any product that lessens my symptoms. This cooling scarf has made an enormous difference in helping tolerate the humid MN summer heat, as I still love to garden, and am learning to kayak. Since heat can make MS symptoms worsen, the scarf has allowed me to spend more time outside. It's also helpful inside when air conditioning isn't available. I have given lots of these to outdoor loving people, and to others with MS. These things float for awhile too, if it falls off while you are on the water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Product My wife and I have been wearing these Kool Ties for over 10 years. My wife, a cardiologist, recommends them to her patients all the time for their ability to help reduce blood pressure. We like to hike and bike and these are a part of our kit. They are simple to use, last for 2-3 days before you need to resoak them, and last for years. My wife talked to the creators of this product and they are correct in all of their claims about reducing blood pressure and heart rate. They will even send you proof of testing that was overseen by a cardiologist in controlled conditions that is very impressive. We have used them in all conditions and have noticed an improvement in our physical stamina while hiking and biking. Don't be without one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for hot weather activities It was reccomended to me by a friend and now I can't stop telling everyone about this amazing product. It's a must have!!! I used it while Trikking 55 miles in 90- 106 degrees weather and it stayed cool all that time. It was amazing to feel something cold on your neck while you feel your body is melting everywhere else. I will never leave the house without my cool tie. And it looks cool too :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've used one for years! I keep one of these in my suitcase for travel. The first time I used a Kafta kool tie was about ten years ago in Bejing, China. Our tour guide recommended it for our trip and I've been recommending it to friends ever since. This thing is GREAT!! You'd think after soaking it in water that it would be drippy but it does NOT drip down your neck. Whenever the tie doesn't feel cool anymore, give it a twist and it's instantly cool again. I could wear it all day and the tie still felt cool when I'd turn it. You activate it by soaking it in some water and letting the beads inside "swell up." Be careful that you don't over fill the beads, making it stiff. I did this once and when I went to curve it around my neck, I ripped the seam. I was able to sew the edge again after it dried out but from then on I was careful about that. You leave it sit out a few days to dry and it returns to the original flat state. I've seen similar kool ties at craft fairs and they smelled funny, but not the kafta kool tie. This is the brand I have recommended to friends for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top product for looking & keeping cool I now own half a dozen of these neck coolers in varied colors and patterns. They are absolutely great and work wonderfully to create a sensation of coolness on hot days, and I know what hot is living in Phoenix for 20+ years. Some tips for use: 1) Evenly distribute the dried beads in the center section before immersing the fabric in water. The tie is more effective with evenly distributed beads. 2) Put in cold water, a flat pan works best but the bottom of a sink is fine as long as the beads are spread out. Don't soak for more than 30 minutes, see other reviewers comments about the beads swelling too much if left in water too long. The little beads turn into a cold gel. 3) Be sure to thoroughly dry the tie after use. Here in the NM mountains that takes 3-4 days. I hang the tie over a hanger and just let it sit until the beads are grainy again. 4) The tie comes with an instructions card, keep the card with your ties to remind you of how to use. The Kool Tie designs are so nice I wear them when I don't need the cooling effect, just tie one on without soaking it first. This is an A++ product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use as a cooling necktie or headband After seeing both my hiker father and a friend at a local fair using this product in the heat this summer, I decided to try it myself. I bought two. The colorful designs go well with any summer attire - hiking/camping and outdoor events and summer parties. I've used them constantly in the summer heat, and also as cooling wrap when I have a tension headache. This feels like a smart purchase to me, and I'd recommend the Kool Tie for anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RELIEF IN EXTREME HEAT!! I bought this wrap for an upcoming backpacking trip with my dad and brother in the Sisters Wilderness area. However, this week has been over 100 and I work in a non-air conditioned parts department at an auto body shop. IT GETS HOT in here!! I wore it today and cannot believe the immediate relief this provides! What would be an absolutely unbearable day has become something I can function in. I have recommended it to everyone I work with that is also suffering from the heat, and recommend it to anyone that has to work in a super hot environment!

Can you wash the Cool Tie?

Asked by: GenieB
The Kool Tie can be hand washed for no more than 3 minutes in your favorite laundry soap or detergent. Rinse well and hang so that air can circulate freely around the tie. Occasional machine washing for no more than 3 minutes will break up dirt and salt build-up that can affect hydration. Using a mesh bag for delicates is recommended. Rinse well and hang.

I used this for the first time on a long hike 5 days ago.  The gel beads are still swelled and the fabric smells musty.  I have it hung up in a room that is air-conditioned.  What am I doing wrong?  I don't want to have a new item smell musty already!  Th
