Left it home once, never again
I left this home once and got lost when the map wasn't accurate. Never again! Has saved my butt quite a few times. A good compass is worth its weight, and this compass is a good one. Whenever I go on an adventure, this goes with me and I always get home.

Know what you are getting!
This compass would not be a bad one to give to a child for learning compass skills. But that's about as far as it goes. The declination can't be locked, and the compass itself isn't fluid-filled. Plus, the case isn't hinged--the plastic bends to close the compass. So, the top is likely to separate sooner, rather than later. If you want a mirror compass, step up to one of the mid-priced units that REI sells. They are far better suited for back country use.

Dont bother

Compass is cheap and made very crudely. Hinge never stays where you want it to and the mirror actually rubs on the mirror creating a big round smear that makes the compass hard to use.

Servicable, not durable

My sunscreen leaked in my backpack, and when I wiped it off this compass, the markings on the clear plastic came right off. It was just regular, name-brand sunscreen, but apparently it was enough to dissolve the markings.I guess it worked pretty well up to that point.

Light weight construction

Purchased this for an emergency kit I put together for when camping. This item seems to work well and is extremely light weight. The major concern is with regard to how durable this item will be. Although I havent had any problems with it, It just feels cheaply built when I'm using it.

3 in 1

Perfect 3 in 1 buy. You get a sighting mirror that doubles as an emergency signal and a whistle!.

Love to know where I am

Compass is great. I like to have a back up to phone app and Garmin GPS. The Suunto compass is prefect. already have a built in whistle on my pack so did not attach the one that came with compass.

Garbage

This compass is at best a child’s toy. It has no declination ring; only fixed declination marks. I purchased this for a Search & Rescue navigation test and it is totally useless. In addition, the construction of the housing pitiful. You could get something similar from a vending machine when I was little. Buy a real compass.

Due North!

I love this compass. Compact, accurate, durable, and waterproof. What else could you ask for. I keep this attached to my PFD at all times!

Really cool

This is a great product. It still works even after i dropped it on the ground a few times. It only had one or two scratches and that was it. It is super accurate. I love this compass.
