Good rooftop cargo basket for small car.
Since my Crosstrek has a sunroof, I wanted a rooftop basket that I wouldn't see when looking up through it. However, couldn't find one that was small enough, yet sturdy. When I look up and through now I see half sky and half basket. Oh well. It's a sturdy unit and I really like the sporty look and extra storage room when needed. I also purchased the stretch net for this basket and a travel bag.
Not exact fit with factory crossbars
Picked up the Load Warrior after researching which rooftop carrier would be best for the intended purposes. Had the Honda setup. Asked several blog groups how it worked. Decided to go with it. Well, it’s secure but... it doesn’t look like it really belongs if you look closely at the the rack attached to the crossbars. Also, the $70 locks didn’t look like a justifiable purchase. Went with a $13 7ft Kryptonite cable and a $14 master lock. Looks secure when anyone approaches the vehicle. After driving with the rack installed, gas mileage was horrible! I know I know it’s to be expected. Well, a go around is to fold the fairing down towards the front of the vehicle, gas mileage is back to normal. The wind noise is minimal with moonroof open. Don’t want to hear it, closed the moonroof. Overall, happy with the purchase. Would rate 4 1/2 stars if that was an option. Oh, attached the fairing backwards as another reviewer did. Nice addition to my SUV
Easy to install, worked great on my fishing trips.
Works great / Easy to install
We recently downsized form a mini-van and now drive a 2012 Subaru Outback. We needed to haul a mini-van worth of stuff for a trip to the beach house with an Outback. The LoadWarrior came to the rescue. Installation was easy. It took about 45 minutes the first time following the step-by-step instructions - but will go much quicker next time around. Taking it off was just as easy. You can do the install on your own, but two make it so much easier and will result in fewer scratches. I bought the LoadWarrior cargo net at the last minute and am glad I did. I used a blue tarp as weather proofing and the cargo netting held it in place nicely.
Makes trips much easier
Bought this for a few camping trips coming up this year. Just took it to Joshua tree this past weekend on my Subaru Forester and couldn’t be any more happier with the product! I took a full car of friends so there stuff plus my stuff packed into my car for a weekend wasn’t to bad! I was able to throw some packs on top with a bunch of wood! The only think I would of bought was the extension to add some more length to it! Other than that, the product is great quality, and offered my friends and I some comfort knowing we didn’t have to throw stuff on our laps! 10/10 product. Also, I want to add yeah it is a bit expensive but what investment is not? It’s a good quality product.
Great looking basket for my VW Tiguan.
Just had it for a week and ready to try it over the 4th of July weekend. Looks really sturdy and was so easy to install and remove so you will definitely need a locking bracket to protect your investment. Only thing it is so hard to find and out of stock in most stores. I had to put in an order with Rack Attack but it will not come until after the holidays so I just made do with a pair of bike locks for $5.99 a pop at Harbor Freight store for the meantime. Safe travels!
Good Stuff!
Love this rack and it is just what is needed to haul the load. I got the security locks and they were well worth the extra money to know my rack will not be stolen. This rack fits great, looks great and is very durable..... cannot wait until the Spring time to fill it with my camping gear and hit the woods.
Loaded up for trip to Alaska
This is an all-inclusive review for the rack and all accessories. REI constructed and installed the rack, so that was super easy right. They also mounted the highspeed bike rack on the cargo rack. Works great! I easily installed the SKS lock cores on the bike rack and the Warrior locking brackets on the cargo rack itself. We also mounted a spare tire on the LoadWarrior with the spare tire carrier. I locked that bracket with a padlock. We placed the bike tire on top of the spare tire and kept everything strapped on with the LoadWarrior stretchnet, which doesn’t come with instructions but we just covered everything and attached the clasps and stretched some of the netting to ultra-secure it to the smaller clasps. We had extra room for a couple dry bags, so those are also under the stetchnet and that LoadWarrior is loaded! It’s a mother-daughter adventure on the AlCan Highway ... from Wisconsin to Alaska! All our gear on the roof has been stable and secure!! We check it every time we stop and it’s always rock solid. We just finished Day 5 of 8 and have covered about 2/3 of the 3500 miles. I would recommend this cargo basket. I think I might add one to my car after leaving my daughter and the Subaru in Alaska.
Loadwarrior Blues
Oh boy... something was definitely wrong in the box I received. Hard to imagine that two Yakima production foul ups occurred. First, the holes found on the bottom of two basket parts did not allow for threading the screws. Secondly, the screws and “t” screws that were supplied, did not match the interior diameter of the knobs (which are used to tighten down the Loadwarrior to the crossbars) A failed adventure and I returned the unit to the Tualatin store. Which during the pandemic was a true challenge.
Great additional storage but $$ for what it is
The basket does as intended. Assembly was easy but it holes didn't exactly line up and ended up stripping screw out. Overall the quality felt pretty average and not worth the extra couple hundred dollars over the cheaper brands. I had it on a Honda Civic to give more space inside the vehicle on a recent camping trip. It worked great for that but seriously killed my gas mileage with coolers chairs and other stuff in it on the trip lol...normally get 35 mpg or so on interstate and brought it to about 24 mpg. The fairing does very little to reduce noise. I returned it and will likely go buy the $80 one at Walmart next time I need. Will also probably look for one of the luggage racks when need to keep stuff dry on top.
