I Love these shoes
I am on my third pair of these clogs, they are Great! From Fall to Spring they are usually the only shoes on my feet. Living in WA it's always wet, and they are wonderful for keeping your feet dry and out of the water. They also keep your feet warmer in the winter because they have a nice thick sole. I've only had the brown nubuck color and they are so easy to keep clean and if you get a small scuff you can rub it right out. I do agree you should not buy These on line, you need to try them on in person. I usually end up trying on at least 6 different pairs and picking the right fit for each foot. They make walking so much easier, if you let them.
Comfortable & long lasting
These clogs are great. I've owned them since 2002, and for several years wore them to work in an operating room. They protected my feet from heavy equipment being rolled around, they kept nasty fluids from reaching my socks and skin, and kept my feet comfortably warm. They're still in great condition, and are nice and soft now (they get softer after being waterproofed with nikwax or the like). They're great too for supporting the feet and legs when needing to stand up for a while. They're very stable... but sometimes because of the thinner heel, a foot has rolled in. So, when I wear them I do tend to be conscious of how I step.
Excellent all-around shoe...with caveats
These shoes are SO versatile. They work for many different occaisions.Overall, they are comfortable and very supportive. My only two complaints are: (1) they don't have a lot of cushioning in them, and are also kinda heavy. I live in the city and walk a ton on sidewalks, and by the end of the day, sometimes my knees ache from the pounding. They could really do with some more cushioning. (2) the sole is thick, so your foot is actually raised a bit off the ground. While they are generally pretty stable, if you catch the edge wrong, you can turn your whole foot over pretty easily. I've done it a few times, [...]
Remedy for foot pain/fatigue
Dansko's have a roomy toe box, protective heel-cap, a slip-resistant sole, and are made of high quality materials. Great arch support. Your heel will sit higher than your toes – fantastic for anyone suffering from Plantar Fasciitis. Cons: Some people have problems with the top of the shoe rubbing on the top of your foot. Also, I noticed that since the company split; some of my shoes squeak when I walk. My shoe store told me that it may be an air bubble. Because this squeak doesn't appear until after a few wears – I would only buy this brand from a store like REI who will accept an exchange after wearing the product. Overall the Cons are not enough to keep me from buying another pair. I have 5 pairs now and wear them daily.
Caution if you have flat feet!
I was happy to find these in my size and in the color I wanted. Unfortunately, I have flat feet and after wearing them for several hours in a museum, the muscles in my feet became quite sore. A month later, I still have to ice them. I checked with a podiatrist, and he told me that since I have flat feet, these clogs are not a good choice for me as they put a lot of strain on the muscles of my instep/arch. This was a big surprise, since they were very comfortable when I wore them for short periods of time around the house.
dansko professional clogs
Bought these shoes after much research with Dansko.com On Oct.15 bought them, the next day at work I wored them for the first time, noticed I felt much taller, and unstable, at the end of my shift my feet hurt, but the clogs are slip resistant. I continued to wear these clogs during the week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, by Wednesday after a full shift, after almost faLLING once, almost twisted my ankle, and I could not wait to take these clogs off, that Wednesday night I returned my clogs back to REI with no problem received my full refund back with no problems. I love these clogs, but my feet would ache during my shift the only comfort I had is when I slipped them off my feet during my shift.
Love these shoes!
Very comfortable shoes if you are standing on your feet all day or doing a lot of walking on pavement or flat surfaces. I found them a bit unstable on uneven ground like dirt though. Cobblestone streets are fine. I wore these for a week when I was touring museums in Paris, France. They were the only shoes I took! I bought a size larger for winter sock wear now that I live in a colder area. I found it best to try on the pair I am buying as they are handmade & even the same size can vary a bit. Higher instep folks might want to go a size up, as I did.
Careful on the fit!
I really want to find the right pair of these shoes, as so many folks I know swear by them, but the sizing is a frustration. I am a very standard ladies size 11, and the Dansko 42 is way too small--toes squishing at the end of the shoe. I would order a 43, but REI doesn't currently carry that size in either women's or men's shoes. If you are a ladies size 11, try the 42, but chances are that you will need a 43 to get the true Dansko fit. Here's hoping that REI adds the 43 to their assortment, to accomodate all of us who wear a size 11.
No need for all of my other shoes!
I finally bought a pair of these after learning how they are supposed to fit, which is loosely on the heel. I've had them for about 2 months and have literally not worn any of my other shoes since. I am a nurse and on my feet most of the day, up and down steps and walking hallways; whether I wear them with or without socks, in heat or rain, they are always comfortable, stable and durable. I recently developed a bunion on one foot and was experiencing increasing discomfort even with many of my foot-friendly shoes, so I bought some Super Feet to add some support to my old shoes. But these Dansk clogs need nothing more to support my affected foot. I plan to buy another pair in a different color and considering retiring the other shoes in my closet!!
Exchanged 3 times
I have worn and loved these professional clogs for at least 10 years but have had to exchange--and yesterday, returned for good--3 different pairs of them. The thin leather strip around the top edge of the shoe kept ripping for no good reason (once, the first week I wore them), and the shoes just aren't as comfortable as they used to be (my arches cramp up in them and get sore). It makes sense to me to learn that Dansko has changed manufacturers, but it's sad also, because I wore them all the time--with jeans, skirts, whatever.
