Perfect replacement for my Traverse poles
CALTucson
Had a set of the aluminum with cork grip REI Traverse poles from around 2015 that had finally broken a tip. The poles are made by Komperdell, and the replacement tips were a little challenging to locate, but I decided to give these a try since I was told they are pretty universal. A little soak in hot water and a good hard push to get them seated and they fit perfectly! Just needed to buy some new REI baskets and I'm back on the trail!

Probably a great product but the inside diameter is too small to fit on my mountainsmith carbonlite pro trekking poles so not universal

Worked great!

My thanks to SWJames! I went into these with a bit of caution. The pole ends are tapered and I used a pair of pliers to work the new tips on as far as I could. They stop about 1/2" lower than the originals. I think that there's about 1/2" inside the new tips where the entire load on the pole is taken only by the plastic walls of the new tips, and that's probably where the flex occurs when the the pole jams into a rock. Seems like a nifty solution to me. I went hiking the next day to pressure 'set' the new tips. About 20 miles later, the tips seem solidly on the poles

Replaced worn out tips

I used these tips to replace the worn out tips on my Z-packs ultralight hiking poles. It worked. The tips did not settle down into place at first, but after my first day using the poles, they were appropriately seated. I liked these tips since they place the threads lower, allowing the baskets to ride above the threads. A common problem with hiking pole baskets is that they fall off way too easily, and Leki has found an ideal solution to prevent that from happening, so it was worth a few extra dollars for these tips.

Work for Black Diamond tip replacements

These replacement tips fit my BD Trail trekking poles and I was also able to reuse the BD baskets on these. Youtube has multiple videos for how to replace tips and baskets and after watching one, I had the job done in a few minutes. The tips are a friction fit on the pole, so knock off the old tips, and mash the new ones on. You can warm the new ones with a heat gun or hair dryer to help ensure a snug fit, but pounding them on a good rock or concrete curb probably does about the same thing.

Great customer service!

Made my day when I found these replacement tips for my Leki trekking poles at REI. The staff person helping me actually took the time to take me to their workbench area and showed me how to attach the replacement. Very much appreciated!! Replaced the tip at home and my poles are back on the trail. A shout out to Leki on my Naya model poles-over 4,000 miles on them and they have held up flawlessly in all conditions and terrain. Totally impressed with them!

Bring the heat

Heat gun plus 45 seconds and you’re back in business! I used a big box heat gun to melt the glue under the old tip, slid it off and replaced it with a new tip in under a minute. Have a pair of pliers or a rag handy to pull the old tip off once hot.

REI Service Folks

I bought these Leki carbide tips for my walking poles, but couldn't get the old tip off. The in- store service person worked for 20 mins. and finally extracted the old tip(using great force and skill). I really appreciate his great work, but wonder how many other people might have the same problem. The tips and poles themselves are great lastaping products.

Put on Swix ski poles

My favorite hiking poles – ever – are a set of 150 cm Swix skating poles, with the tips replaced by these carbide trekking tips. Fixed length, hasslefree, lightweight. Plus, the beautiful Swix hand bindings. These have worked so great for me I literally wore out the tips. Right now I am on the REI site simply to buy replacements. But bottom line, I am in love with these tips.
