Less chalk lasts longer with Bison
Essentially its still only chalk. Chalk wont make you a better climber, though new climbers get a sense of confidence by chalking their hands up. I pour the entire container in a chalk bucket style bag. It stays nicely in the bag and not in the air like a lot of other chalks. Besides that, Its easier to share loose chalk in a bucket than in a ball. Less chalk is needed with Bison chalk so you'll spend less time re-chalking your hands during a fun sport climb, and that is great! Its finely ground also, leaving no chunks in the bag to break up. My fiancé boulders / I sport climb: We both love this chalk.
Chalk Review
This is a chalk review. This chalk is great. It's just chalk, yes, but it's just great chalk. It's like ground up angels...without having to hurt angels. It's like fresh whipped cream...but dry. It's like putting silk gloves on...except it's really chalk gloves. When you use this chalk while climbing, it is like a second, far smaller climber you are holding on to, carrying you up the wall. When you use this chalk in front of climbers, they will ask what chalk it is exactly. I've made friends because of this chalk. I met my husband because of this chalk. When I put this chalk on my hands, my husband says, "this chalk is a metaphor for our love." This chalk is like a lover that can't stand the angle at which you fall. This chalk is like an animal's beating heart in your hands going quiet. This chalk is like the animal that has forfeited its heart to a mysterious chain of being. This chalk...could be cheaper.
Good chalk
I had been using Evolv's chalk without complaints, but a friend had this chalk and it's noticeably better. It's more finely ground, has a softer feel to it, and seems to keep my hands drier. My major complaint is with the container it comes in. The jug has a screw-on top, but chalk still puffs out. Also the opening of the jug is almost too large to put my chalk bag over for refills. If the top closed securely and the opening was a little smaller, this would be a 5-star product.
Good finely ground chalk
Bought this chalk based on the few reviews here and I haven't been disappointed. It is finely ground which I find works well for me. It is a little messier but I'm not really concerned with having a little bit of chalk on my clothes, it dusts right off. On the wall it's kept my fingers nice and dry and unless the humidity is outrageous I can chalk up at the bottom of the route and be good to go all the way to the top. Overall I'm pleased with this chalk and thanks to the amount you get, I should have enough to last me for quite a while!
Best Chalk
Chalk sticks well and it's not grainy, so you can use less at a time. Bought this about 8 months ago and I still have a little more than half the container left. I use it indoors and out. Only bad thing is because its so sticky it gets on your clothes easily, but it causes no harm.
The best I've tried
Of all the brands I have tried, I like this chalk the best. It's fine consistency is lump-free; so I just pour it into my chalk bag and go. The first time I used it, it felt so soft that I thought it might not be as absorbent, but by the end of my climb, I found I preferred it.
the only chalk I'll use
This chalk is so much better than others I've tried. It's hard to explain- it just feels right, stays on, and works great. no lumps, doesn't clump, very fine.
Will buy again!
I live in Dallas, TX, which means that I am climbing indoors for all but a half dozen or so trips a year. That said, I have been climbing 3+ days a week for 2 years now and would consider myself a very experienced climber. I previously used the standard Metolius Super Chalk, although after going through 2 bags where they messed up the formula and made the chalk almost unusable I vowed to no longer give them my business. Enter: Bison chalk. First of all, the container design makes it MUCH easier to pour into a chalk pot/bag, and as a result less chalk (if any) is spilled in the process. The chalk itself has a consistency similar to flour. Compared to Metolius, it sticks to my hands much better and I don't have to re chalk nearly as often (perhaps 2-3 times as long between chalking.) I'd say you're crazy if you think one chalk will help you perform better than another, but for my money this chalk is a much better value.
Excellent quality and consistency
Best Chalk around. I have used several different products from various major companies, but none of them have come close to this one. The smooth ,chunk less consistency makes it long lasting and easy on the hands. As someone who sweats a lot, this has been my cup of tea. Never going back to anything else. Def worth the slightly higher price.
Not too thick, not too thin
I have been using this chalk in bag every time I go to the gym. It has a good thickness as in its not too thin. It can get the perfect amount on my hands and not slip off the plastic. Also works good outside on rocks if you need it for rock. All my friends like to use it when we are at the gym or working a hard route at a crag.
