great product

Ski bones are the best ski retention devices for the price, bar none. They hold the ski bases apart during transport; very important for preserving your bases and your wax job. Unlike most straps, they also protect the edges of the skis; as there's a piece molded in to the ski bones which protrudes an inch or so past the edges. Unlike most straps I've tried, the ski bones don't slip at all once you put them on. Short of having a ski bag for each ski, there isn't a better product out there for protecting your cross country or back country skis.

For skis that fit, these are the best!

Ski Bones are the easiest, least expensive and most grippy ski connectors available. The shape provides a bumper beyond the width of the ski and offering extra protection. For all my skis that are below 100mm width I only use these. They can stretch to accommodate a certain range (50mm to about 70mm) but more sizes are made that REI does not stock. The manufacturer makes a smaller size (down to 44mm) and a larger size (up to about 100mm). They will allow direct purchase of unavailable sizes with an order of 4 pair or more. The material is non-sliding and with the right size you stretch them on to the ski and realy hold on. The older Ski Bones I have are 25 yrs. old and have not cracked although having been stretched across the skis for that long that have gotten a bit longer when removed from the skis but not much. They are still very usable for the correct width skis.

Good buy, they work

The ski bones have been available for many years. They haven’t changed, never wear out and are the best way to store and transport skis to maintain the camber. And they are cheap. What more could you want? We’ve had Velcro straps, metal brackets and numerous other items we’ve tried and always come back to the ski bones.

Better Than Velcro Bands

Prior to purchasing these ski bones, I was using a velcro band to hold my skis together. I like the ski bones much better, they are excellent at holding the skis in place with no slippage. They are a bit bulkier than the velcro band, but they still fit easily into a pocket. I've been using one pair since last ski season and they so zero signs of wear, so I bought a second set for my husband, who also loves them. I find them very easy to slip on and off the skis.

Secure holders work well

These holders fit securely on my extra-wide back country skis. By keeping the holders close to the end of the skis the metal edges do not come in contact, something that would occur with straps. I was a little concerned that the holders would not fit my extra wide skis but that has not been a problem. I bought two pairs.

These are great

These things are great! I bought a pair for my cross country skis. They are easy to put on and they don't slip like straps do. They keep the skis separated. They really are a great product. Don't hesitate to buy yourself a pair.

Works with wall rack!

I hang my skis by the tips on a wall rack. These work great for holding the tails together. My skis are off-track touring skis, with tails varying from 55-70 mm wide. The Ski Bones grip the tails well, and they don't fall off like the ski ties I was using.
