Bought this product in November 2025 to use on an April 2026 backpacking trip to Japan. In the first two days, loaded with about 35 pounds of clothing, food, and equipment, the product catastrophically failed in two locations. The waist belt on the right-hand side completely tore away, rendering the pack functionally useless. I found an emergency sewing kit in a small town and was able to stitch it together enough that I was able to continue my trip. On the second day, the right-hand shoulder strap completely tore away from the frame. While I was able to continue using the pack, comfort and balance were affected. I have photos, but I am unfortunately not able to upload with this review system. I will be returning the backpack to REI this weekend. I don't know if I get a lemon or if all units are similarly poorly constructed. Incidentally, another piece of Alps Mountaineering equipment - an inflatable pillow - also failed on the same trip during its first use. These two pieces of equipment were my first experience with the Alps Mountaineering brand, and unfortunately they will also be the last. Two failures on day one of their first trip suggest to me that this brand is not worth giving a second chance.
Great back pack! Quality and materials. I love the color too.
I really am enjoying this backpack. Great quality with lots of space. I really think this is my go-to pack. Thank you REI!
