Best travel toothbrush

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no it’s Super Toob. This is the best traveling toothbrush on the market. It is light weight, durable, and holds a week’s worth of toothpaste. It is basically complete oral hygiene in a small compact container, if it only held dental floss it would be perfect. We purchased this toothbrush about 7 years ago when we switched over to ultra-light hiking gear. Our toob has traveled with us on many back country hikes and short weekend trips. The heads can be replaced when they wear out, so it is a long term investment. We would recommend this to anyone that travels, and especially to those that hike and/ or camp. In response to some of the negative comments: Yes at times it can be difficult to remove the bottom of the toothpaste container, but running under hot water solves this issue relatively quickly. The comment about durability made me laugh, we have had ours for 7 years treat it like the rest of our camping gear and it has held up fine. To the hygienist who strives to speak for the ADA, this is not a primary toothbrush and I would not recommend it as such, it is designed for camping and traveling. Although I love my oral B electric toothbrush, it is not practical to take on back country camping trips.

I saw this toothbrush and was very excited and bought it immediately. When I brought it home and opened it, I was extremely disappointed. The toothbrush bristles are very hard and stiff. This is the exact toothbrush I steer my patients away from. They will brush off your enamel (what you tooth is basically coated in) and leave you with a lot of dental work to be done. I was very disappointed by this product, I would never use it or recommend it to anyone.

Very good product

This is the best solution that I have found for traveling with my preferred toothpaste (which does not come in travel-sized tubes). Refilling it is fiddly - you have to be sure to empty it before refilling in order not to leave any air bubbles and to clean the threads before re-screwing the cap on the toothpaste tube. Also, in my opinion there is no point in getting the extra heads. Eventually the threads on the tube will become gunked up and the tube will become creased from use and you will have to replace the entire product. But in the meantime its use on the road is great. I have gone through two and am getting another.

Very cool design

As with a lot of REI items, I bought this for a specific purpose - to have an all-in-one toothpaste-toothbrush combo. And for that it works great - I also intend to use it for travelling and vacation. However, my wife suggested I get a second one for our teenaged daughter who is getting braces, and thus will need to brush her teeth during school. The design of it is quite ingenious: the back of the toothpaste tube is threaded to accept a standard toothpaste nozzle (is that what it's called?) so it is very easy to refill. The head of the toothbrush might be a bit small, but that's a minor trade-off for its convenience

Good Idea but Poor Execution

I bought this for camping because I figured it would be nice to have my toothbrush and toothpaste in one nifty container. When I got it I was initially very pleased with it. Sure, it's a little harsh but it's not made to replace your toothbrush at home. What disappointed me was how cheap this was made. The plastic housing broke the second time I used it and now the cap on the toothbrush doesn't stay on well.

Great For Travel

My biggest problem with a toothbrush when traveling is that the cover inevitably comes off in my toiletries bag; not the most hygienic. The Toob solves this problem. I bought this at the start of a busy summer travel season and love it. The toothbrush stays clean in the case. It's also much better for the environment because I refill the Toob from our toothpaste at home instead of buying all of the little travel-sized toothpaste tubes. I haven't had any problems with it being messy to refill. On the contrary; it's quite quick and easy to do. I would definitely purchase this again and have recommended it to friends.

good in theory, disappointment in practice

Bought this for an extended hiking trip and was excited to be able to bring my preferred toothpaste that is not available in travel size. In practice, however, it turned out that I had filled the container mostly with air, not toothpaste (but could not tell when filling). Strike #1. The bristles were extremely hard and my gums were sore and bleeding after brushing. Strike #2. After two uses, I noted that many of the bristles had already fallen out and found some of them still in my mouth. Strike #3. Went out and bought a full-sized toothbrush and full-sized tube of toothpaste (only thing available in the tiny town we hiked to) and was much happier for the remainder of the trip.

Minimalist's dream

This is a very compact toothbrush with a refillable paste tube stored in the brush handle. The tube is very easy to refill from a conventional toothpaste tube: Just screw it onto the big tube and push out the paste, no mess, no air bubbles in the small tube. There is enough paste for 8-10 uses. Case is rigid enough as not to worry about an accidental paste squeeze-out spill (been there!). The brush is not state of the art, but it gets the job done while you are on a bike or backpacking multi-day tour.

Great, until the paste resevior breaks

I've used my Toobbrush for about three years now. I used to travel a LOT for my job, now it's my "gym & swim" toothbrush. But it's always been a struggle to get the screw cap off to refill it. Sometimes it's easy, other times I have to (literally) get the pliers out. That is, until last week when, during trying to open it, it just shredded apart. Luckily (I guess) I had already planned on purchasing another as the bristles were getting worn so I just stepped that up and got another one.

Portable Oral Health on the Go!

Greetings, There has been reports of a member comment about Aurelle's Toob brush, I have been searching for it but have been unsuccessful in locating this entry. It has been reported to be a faulty and substandard item. I am a Registered Dental Hygienist and have been personally using the Toob brush since 2007 without issues and found it to be an excellent product. The company stands behind its products and services. I would challenge any negative feedback and encourage anyone having issues with the Toobrush to contact the Aurelle company directly. Regards, Sharon Libich, RDA, RDH, BS
