This jacket is in the "Warmest" category on REI's website, but when I received it, I found that hard to believe because it is so thin. I looked on Columbia's website, and they categorize their jacket as "Warmer" and mid range. I am returning because I was looking for something thicker and really well insulated, and this was not it.
Unfortunately, the coat is not the warmest. I feel the cold wind blowing through the arm's of the coat as soon as l walk outside. The insulation doesn’t keep me warm and the coat is too thin.
I love this jacket! I bought it for skiing in the PNW and wanted something really waterproof- this delivered! I get very cold, so I wanted something to keep me warm and dry. This on its own would definitely not be enough, I use it more like an insulated shell that I layer a puffer and other layers underneath. I also use it for daily wear and it works well for me for that too. I am between and M and L in different brands and items and sized up to a L to be able to layer underneath. The M was tight under my arms with layers. Highly recommend this jacket.
Order a larger size if you need to layer for winters east of the Cascades, or windchill conditions
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Only wore one weekend. A very hot day skiing so wish it was less warm and a colder day with rain and I stayed dry. I ordered a medium to mar sure it was comfy with clothes under and my broad shoulders but probably a small would have worked fine too.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, I love the color of this jacket. I did go up a size so that I can layer underneath is more comfortably. It is quite a thin coat, it is not down or thick, but I like that I can then layer a fleece or something more lightweight under it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice top layer. Waterproof and lightweight. Requires a mid layer, like a puffy and a thin base layer to keep nice and warm. True to size. I’m 180 lbs & purchased an XL. Fabric is soft not swishy.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love my new ski jacket. I wish it came in a variety of colors.
