Unable to use it due to lack of instructions

I want this lock to work. It's light and compact and would be perfect for my intended use, but I have no idea how to actually use it. The packaging (a piece of cardboard that the lock came affixed to) contains no instructions. I was able to release the lock but am unable to set a novel combination or use it. I've searched the internet and watched a YouTube video and am still none the wiser. So in theory a good product; in practice one that is not working for me. I will have to return it and go a different route.

Explaination for lock combo not changing.

I have same lock, expected to be able to change combo. Went to ChatGPT and got some instruction on how I might change the lock. After telling it nothing was working this was the explaination. Only the 4 digit lock is changeable. This is a low risk deterrent lock with a fixed combo. I guess hope the bad guy looking does not know this. Ha. Or not haha. What Dakine does not state clearly (but should) Dakine’s documentation does not distinguish resettable vs fixed-code micro locks on packaging or product pages. This causes exactly this confusion. They treat these as: • Low-security, deterrent locks • Factory code = 000 permanently ⸻ Your realistic options 1. Keep using 000 (acceptable for ski/snowboard rack deterrence) 2. Return/exchange if you wanted a personal code 3. Replace with: • Dakine 4-digit resettable • Abus / Master / Hiplok resettable micro cable

Nice little theft deterrent

Very small and lightweight lock. Easy to setup, though, needed youtube to figure out how to set the combination since there are no instructions included. The cable can probably be cut with just a leatherman knife/wirecutters, but it does feel like a nice deterrent to having your skis mistakenly taken or intentionally walked off with. The cable couple be a little longer.
