Carried my skis and all my 3 of my kids' skis
The backpack can basically carry my pair of adult skis, and my kids' skis at ages 8, 6 and 4, so a total of 4 pair of skis wrapped around by the straps. With that, it free up my hands and makes it easy for me to coordinate my kids between the parking lot to the ski slopes. Also, I don't need to force my kids to carry their own skis and make it difficult for them. Without this backpack, it would be super difficult to bring all 3 kids to the slopes on my own. I called the local North Face stores to see if they had any ski backpacks to can carry skis, and I literally brought my skis to test the backpack out. Finally landed with this backpack that worked perfectly for my situation.
Great Patrol Bag
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this bag to be used as a ski patrol bag. It's lightweight and comfortable and fits all of the gear I need without being too bulky. I like that the two compartments are separated between front and rear as that eliminates confusion in an emergency. I also like that the rear compartment opens completely (zips down to the bottom on both sides) making it easy to access everything inside. I just got it so I cannot comment on durability just yet. The only critique I would give it is it is difficult to add a hydration bladder to the pack in a way that doesn't throw off the weight balance.
Compact bag for patrolling
I use this bag for ski patrolling and its the perfect size. The back access panel is full length and I can quickly rip it open once the zipper is loosened. However, it is very secure otherwise. My favorite part is the panel stays open when I open it all the way instead of some backcountry packs where there's an inch of non-zipper at the bottom which means the panel can't stay open on its own. The little zipper pocket and top goggle compartment are also useful. Haven't use it when it's snowing like crazy so can't speak to the water resistance but will try to update after.
Great small bag for the resort
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this bag because I wanted something small that would be easy to carry around the resort as well as carry my skiboards. I finally got a chance to try this bag recently and was very impressed. I really like the multiple carry options for your skis/board. The hooks used to secure the straps can be a little cumbersome with cold hands but are very secure. Never had a worry about my skiboards coming loose. The bag has enough storage space for extra layers and other things you may need. I had a layer or two, a large nalgene water bottle, goggles, and snacks packed and barely could tell I was wearing this bag. I could have easily packed more. The back panel access to items is really nice, reminds me of my Vertx bags. My only negative I have is the color choices. I would have loved this bag in the black/brown trim that they show in the product video. With that said I do like the green color of the one I was able to grab when it was in stock for a short time. I added paracord to the zipper straps and handle to make things a bit easier to grab with gloves and add a little color. Overall this a great bag. Definitely happy the purchase.
Highly recommended for the mountains
Love it, can't wait to take it on the slopes!
Love it! Highly recommended
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this backpack for a snowboarding trip at Park City. The backpack has a perfect size for snacks and water for all-day riding. It's water-resistant but it will get wet if I am sitting on snow too long. Good design that two strips with a lock to hold the snowboard when I did hiking to the top of the mountain.
Bag is not enough, wish I had not bought it
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This backpack is designed for backcountry skiing, but at 20 liters it is not large enough to hold everything that you would responsibly be carrying on a day in the backcountry. I unfortunately realized this after a weekend taking an AIARE I class, and The North Face would not accept a return.
I would've given this five stars but I'm not enthused about
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would've given this five stars but I'm not enthused about the set up for the zippers and the straps. Haven't had a chance to take it down the Slopes yet due to a lack of snow but all in all seems like it will fit the bill
Very adjustable in fit, excellent quality
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this as a gift for my nephew. He's 6 foot five and I was concerned it may not fit him. The adjustability is amazing. He is currently using it for back country skiing in Northern Minnesota. Excellent quality.
Comfortable and, useful.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought my Slackpack to use while snowmobiling. It carries everything that I need for an all day adventure, including my telescoping shovel. It's very comfortable. In fact, I barely noticed that it was on my back.
