Superb feel of the Grid Fleece Jacket
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Columbia Grid Full Zip Hoodie is the perfect balance of warmth, breathability & everyday comfort, making it an easy go to for both outdoor adventures and casual wear. Its lightweight grid fleece design traps heat efficiently while still allowing airflow, so it feels cozy without ever being bulky. With its clean look, durable construction, and reliable performance, this hoodie delivers the kind of quality you expect.
A bit of a disappointment
This "fleece" is thinner and not as warm as I expected. The quality of the seams could be better; fraying around the collar after one week.
Great jacket if you like to sew!
I've had this jacket for less than a year and have repaired the seams about 7 times so far, and need to repair 2 more spots. I don't love to sew, but I need to catch the split seams early to reduce the amount of work I have to do. The thumbholes (which I rarely ever use) have split a few times, and the piping around the cuffs and hem have all had threads pull out. Unfortunately, Columbia knows their fleece suck and doesn't care or put money into correcting their fleece QC because it's not covered under the lifetime guarantee, as this isn't the first fleece I've had from them that this has happened to. (Limited lifetime warranty on insulated Jackets, Snow Gear, Shells, etc.) Besides that, it pills pretty easy. I wear this at work often (office job). I like the look but wish it was more durable.
If it ain't broke...
The Essential Hike jacket seems to be a new version of the Park View Grid fleece jacket. IMO the Park View full-zip Grid Fleece jacket was "essential"--a versatile go-to item for travel. So why did Columbia cheapen up the design of the original by removing the zip side pockets? The functional triple zip-pocket layout of the Park View was what set it apart. It makes me wonder what else has been changed/cheapened in this new version.
Not a runner but works for me when hiking.
Not too thin but not too thick. I bought it for walking/hiking. It will work well on spring/fall days and as a mid-layer as the air cools further. Pockets along the side “seams” make it a bit unhandy when you want both hands in your pockets but not really a hassle. Decent price and good quality.
Affordable and did what it was suppose to.
Sleek, comfortable, stylish, and warm. Most importantly it didn’t break the bank. Kept me warm in the 40’s over a sun hoodie on 5 mile hike and overnight. I would recommend for sure. For less than $80 I was very impressed.
Don’t buy-Material is useless-00 durability value
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Yes soft and breathable but zero durability. After one week the material started to come un done. Spend a few extra and get the Patagonia. It’s same look and feel and functionality but much more durable.
Nice item
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the material very comfortable and perfect size
