Excellent Universal Backpack

Designed as a cycling bag, but the size and feature set make for an excellent universal backpack for EDC and day hiking. The dimensions are perfect for a personal item/under seat air travel bag, even for stingy budget airlines. Comfortable shoulder straps with sternum strap, removable waist strap, water bottle pocket can hold a one liter Nalgene and two zippered outer pockets. The horizontal daisy chain will hold a bicycle U-lock.

Thanks for your review. We're really happy to hear about your great experience with the pack. We designed it with commuting in mind, but to work great off the bike as well!

Great bag, needs a luggage strap.

Great bag in every way but one. Well organized, not too many pockets but just enough, reflective, has a chest and waist strap. Light interior so you can find your stuff. I bought it for EDC and it's fantastic except for two things- the REI logo is a bit too prominent, and there is no luggage strap. I realize it's designed as a bike commuter pack, but it's such an awesome bag that it makes a good travel bag and EDC as well, but it needs a luggage strap. Thank you REI for making a better bag at less than half the price than all the fancy artisanal EDC companies.

Perfect for airline travel -

As airlines are getting stricter about their personal item, and the commuter seats seem to have less space under the seat in front of you, I was searching for a pack that could be all-purpose and fit most airline requirements. Most bags were too large, but this one seemed to fit my needs (laptop sleeve, sternum strap, hipbelt, decent amount of pockets. My 15in Dell laptop is a snug fit, but it does fit.

Excellent Commuter Pack

As usual, REI has good construction and the features you need for a good mid size commuter back. this is perfect for someone who bikes to work with dark material to not show the dirt of the road & reflective spots to aid in visibility.

Great for Travel and EDC

This is a solid upgrade from the previous version in almost every way. Very comfortable shoulder straps and back panel, panel opening for great access, love the top dump pocket, back ventilation is great. This is a perfect minimalist travel bag and EDC at a very reasonable price.

Looking Good, Being Seen

I use this pack to carry my laptop and a change of clothes to work appreciating the visibility and fit, then I'll jump on the train to NYC and feel confident I don't look like a dweeb. I find this pack to be a good balance between safety and style. 👍🏼👍🏼Gouda 🧀 job REI.

Great compact bicycle commuter backpack

This pack is compact and fits well when you're riding. Sturdy, good details, holds a lot of groceries as needed. My 16" laptop fits snugly and securely. I'm 5'10" and 155 lbs and I would not recommend this to X large folks, but it suits my size perfectly. Nice reflector strips.

Smart backpack designed for bike commuters!

I use this backpack for commuting via bicycle or train. My bike ride is about 20 miles (about 1hr-10min), It is large enough for me to fit a change of clothes, lunch foods, and bike tire pump & tube. Backpack is generally quite comfortable on your back, and has a lot of great features designed for bike commuters: lots of reflective bits on the back, sides, and shoulder straps so you are seen, good organizational pockets and dividers without having so many pockets you can remember where youve put things, and is water resistant if you get caught out in a storm. It has nice clips to secure a helmet to the pack; as well as loops I think can be used for a u-lock. Interior is light colored, which makes it easier to find things inside (vs a dark/black interior). It has a bottle pocket on the side, but I typically keep a pair of cold-weather gloves stashed in here instead. There is a side pocket, with even further side pockets, which I use to stash a tube, tools, and pump--keeping them on hand, but out of the way. There is a small compartment on top that works well for storing sunglasses or similar sized items. Inside the main compartment is a mesh pocket good for putting keys, phone, etc...only problem is it doesnt have any structure on this section so it will flop open when you open the main compartment, kind of makes it annoying to get things out of this mesh pocket. Main section has nearly 270* of zipper to make it easy to access the interior. All in all, well thought out backpack specifcally for bike-commuters; though it would work well for just about anyone needing a medium sized general-use bag.
