Wow! I wore the Olympus 5 and had some trouble with the shoes is the sizing and laces too short, the heel too high causing blistering and hot spots BUT THESE SHOES ARE AMAZING! I cannot speak about the new Olymous 6 but the 275 is very comfortable, has an excellent fit in the heel especially with the sock liner (don't feel it but love it!) and the rounded toe box (of course). I haven't taken these shoes on very technical trails with boulders but very lose gravel with medium-ish size gravel. Didn't feel uncomfortable walking on the road/trail, didn't feel the gravel and felt very comfortable in the shoes. Even took them on the pavement and also felt at ease! Love the colors and am holing REI picks up the black and green shoes too! Also, the laces are nice and long leaving plenty of room for adou or knot and 2nd eye hole use, if needed. Home run, Altra!
Love these! There weren’t any reviews yet when I went to the store to try them on but they were so much more comfortable than the timps and seemed like more airflow as well. I wore them the very next day on a 6+ mile hike/jog and loved them. Just got back from an 8 mile backpacking trip in Montana, river crossing included, and they help up great! Great traction, no weird heel ridge, and they dry out fast! Also, great cushion.
I have had the 4s, 5s, and didn't care for the fit of the 6s. But these have knocked it out of the park and are my all-time favorites. Toe box is roomy, the built in garter works (much easier than have to put on gaiters), stable, and plush comfortable. I plan to buy at least one or two more pairs in case next year they change it.
Love these! They were comfortable right out of the box. They fit a lot like the Olympus 4’s that I loved, without the heel slip. I walked 2 Caminos in the 4’s (500 miles) and did not like the fit of 5’s or 6’s. I do not have many miles on the 275’s yet but I’m hopeful they will hold up like the 4’s.
Simply the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. Even more than the Lone Peak I’ve been wearing for the past 3 years since I discovered Altras. They are soft yet stable, the slight rocker really helps my gait go more smoothly, of course the roomy toe box allows space that creates total comfort and natural movement.
I stopped into my local REI intent on getting myself a new shoe with spring and summer around the corner. I usually do everything in barefoot sandals, but I want to start getting into higher elevations and more rugged trails. I was drawn to the color way of the shoe and the intense cushioning and the wider toe box. As soon as I put them on it literally felt like slipping on a house shoe versus a constrictive trail shoe. The toe box is a very welcome design and the scree sleeve is crucial for the gravel and rugged terrain of the high desert trails I go on. I felt like I could spring through the air with these things on, and I called them my trampolines. I hit the trail the same night at a very intense incline with a super fine gravel under foot and they rocked . I got them with my 20% off coupon and I would seriously consider getting a second pair. They’re amazing
Bought a pair of these back in October and have had them out road walking, on trails in TN, and on some rocky trails in AZ. Probably have 350 miles on them and they are holding up great! I had a pair of Olympus 4s that I loved and I think I love these even more. I also have a pair of 5’s that I do not love (too tight, short, laces too short, etc). I tried a pair of 6’s that I returned (thank you REI for the generous return policy) to try these. I like the heel sleeve on the 275s. I was worried it might not hold up, but it has. The shoes have a nice fit from the heel through the mid sole and the super roomy toe box. They have nice long laces, so you could put in a heel brake if needed, but I haven’t needed it in the varied terrain I’ve traversed. I love these so much that I have purchased a couple extra pairs, just in case Altra changes the fit again like they did from the 4 to the 5.
