I would like to preface this with what jacket this Patagonia Hi Loft is replacing. The jacket it replaced was a North Face Ventrix Jacket. This Jacket had different insulation weight in the arms, the sides and body. The way it worked is you could be slightly active such as snow shoveling and the jacket would not overheat due to the differing levels of insulation and kept me warm in a temperature range from 35 - 55 without sweating. This Patagonia Hi Loft also has differing amounts of insultation throughout. It should work well for casual wear and snow shoveling but it too insulated to wear at 50 degrees. If you don't plan on wearing above 50 degrees it will be perfect.
The jacket is well made, fits correctly for the medium which I wear , like in the neck area when zipped all the way there are no drafts and helps keep you warm, can wear down to about 25 degrees before needing a second layer depending on how windy it is
Purchased M in blue, I am 5'10" and 170 lbs with athletic build. Fit is great. I live at the 45th parallel and have used this jacket in sub-zero conditions multiple times. It's completely windproof and warm beyond belief. The biggest challenge is figuring out what to wear underneath it because a t-shirt is more than enough when snowshoeing or hiking in the snow. I wish the zipper was a bit more robust but I trust Patagonia that it will last. Love it.
Purchased at Anchorage, Alaska REI during the fall of 2025. I wore this jacket almost daily in conditions down to minus 15 Degrees F. I found it to be comfortable during moderate activity such as walking, playing with my dog, etc. down to about zero degrees F. It’s good down to 15 degrees F above zero when not moving. Adding a good merino wool base layer and an insulated vest under it makes it superb! The hood is great, especially for blocking the wind. I usually wear a stocking cap and or face mask when conditions warrant. The XL size fit me perfectly. I’m 6’2” and usually need tall sizes in jackets. The cuffs are great. Waist drawstring acceptable and two way zipper just OK. I’d say this feature could use a little improvement, however, I expect it will last for years (fingers crossed). This is my new favorite winter jacket. You’ll love it!
I like Patagonia’s jackets and this is a great jacket for most winter days but I wouldn’t rely on it to stay warm if temps drop into the negative zeros…that’s when I personally switch to my SnugPak Tomahawk coat. This jacket has two deep inside pouches for storing hats and gloves if you want to keep the two zippered hand pockets free. The only improvement they could offer would be to make it a little less bulky in the lower front and maybe the addition of some zippered armpit vents. Otherwise a great jacket and glad I bought it!
Great every day throughout the winter when your down sweater isn't quite enough and your expedition parka is overkill. For the cold, generous PrimaLoft fill and roomy enough to wear a sweater underneath. Better than down for cold plus wet. Usual Patagonia quality.
Great winter jacket for colder temps. It has a substantial amount of insulation that makes it a heavier coat, but overall it’s exactly what I was looking for to deal with chilly mid-Atlantic winter weather when a lighter jacket/fleece isn’t enough. Fits and looks great and I can layer underneath or wear with just a t-shirt.
Patagonia has created an excellent outer layer with their Hi-Loft Nano Puff Hoody. It feels like a form fitting comforter when you put it on, light and flexible. Great wind blocking and warm at least to 20 degrees. Fit of the L is perfect for me at 5’11” and 175#. It has become my go-to winter wear.
My standard Nano-puff jacket is one of my favorites of all time. I never really liked how fragile down jackets are so I'm super happy they made a warmer version of the classic nano puff. Very comfortable and I love the fit.
I was looking for an insulated casual winter coat. This coat fits like a glove, is very warm and attractive. Zippers are high quality and features are what you would expect for Patagonia product. Well worth the money.
