Zamberlin makes great shoes ! I have three different pairs besides these GTX Blast. These are made super narrow even after ordering a size up ! Zamberlin knows better than this and this is Italian humor unfortunately!
They developed a small hole on the top of the tongue and it kept getting bigger so I finally returned them after less than 4 months and a few hundred miles. The soles were more worn down than I'd have figured considering how new they were but the hole in the tongue was the issue. They were comfortable and stable but I expected more from such an expensive shoe.
I wear a US men's size 14 in most shoes including most hiking shoes. Zamberlan's US sizing is different than other non-US shoe companies. What Zamberlan calls a US men 13 is more like size 14 in other brands. They do say that their size 13 corresponds to euro 48 which is what a lot of other shoes say of their size 14. That being said the size 13 free blast fit length wise very well. I had the right distance from big toe to the front end of the shoe. The width however is too narrow for me. I have never worn any shoe in a wide size. I have read that that is intentional. Its supposed to be a technical fit. No left to right sliding of foot inside the shoe. Zamberlan calls it a hiking shoe, but seems like it might be more of an approach shoe. It would probably be good for a shorter hike where there's scrambling over rock, but I wouldn't want to wear these shoes on a 15 or more mile hike....I think my feet would begin to hurt. I gave it 4 stars because they look to be well made, they can be resoled and they are nice looking if that matters.
