This shoe gets more comfortable the longer the run goes on. It's as if the midsole forms to your foot like a big marshmallow. I ran a 50K in them and I had no foot pain other than a few blisters. As far as fit, I bought my first pair going a half size up (10.5) from what I normally wear. I really liked the overall feel of that first shoe, but I could tell I'd be better served by going down a half-size, so I bought another pair in a size 10, which is what I wore in my 50k. I still use my 10.5 for training runs and they fit well enough for that. Durability hasn't been an issue with either pair (one is at 80 miles and the other is at 55 miles). The do seem to get dirty quickly so I've cleaned each pair a couple of times (this is maybe motivated by the $260 price tag and a desire to protect that investment). I've done some stream crossings with them. They dry out pretty well but not as well as I would have expected for a shoe with such a porous upper. The braided laces are awesome. Every shoe company should use these laces. Not once have they come untied.
Really, really good shoe for ultra trail distance. I ran the entire Kodak 100M in Big Bear in this shoe. I had some Norda 005 and LaSportiva Prodigio Pro shoes in drop bags, but stuck with the Cloudultra Pro for the entire distance. The step in feel of the shoe routinely puts a smile on my face which is remarkable because I've gone through hundreds of shoes over the last 25 years of running. I've never really been a fan of OnCloud until the HelionHF foam came out. Cannot wait for the Cloudmonster 3 Hyper that comes out in March 2026 The only downside I've experienced with the shoe is the high cost of entry and a little bit of premature wear on the lateral lugs near the heel after 100miles. This shoe will be in my quiver for Cocodona 250 in May 2026.
Lightest, best fitting shoe. No break in period. I'm taking up running again.
