I am VERY happy that I bought this jacket. The character, quality snd integrity of this coat are excellent.
Initially, I opted for the Proton Heavyweight, but it didn't quite meet my expectations, prompting a return. While the Proton's fit was spot-on, the material didn't align with my lifestyle. A visit to the local outdoor store led me to a jacket that captured my heart – the perfect blend of style, comfort, and size. I particularly appreciate the stitched logo, a step up from the Proton's print. Despite some minor loose feathers around the zippers (which seems par for the course), the jacket proves its worth. Facing a chilly day with mild winds and rain, I stayed comfortably warm at 5'8 wearing a size S.
I wanted to like this jacket so much but the fit is just very off. I had tried on the prior version (mayb 2020) and found the fit a bit off too. This years version is HUGE - it fits more like a belay jacket than the midweight jacket it is. The midsection and arms had a ton of loose material around them and a L in Arc usually fits me like a glove. The exterior fabric is excellent - feels very durable and the jacket is definitely warm - filled with a lot of quality down. Zippers are also outstanding. Hand pockets are lined which is nice. They need to go back to the drawing board on fit and make this in "regular fit". Enough to fit a sweater under it but not the HUGE fit that it is now.....
The jacket like all Arc’teryx stuff fits me perfecty. I am 6’4” 195 athletic slim build and bought a size large. It’s warmer than I expected and super light. I have been able to wear it at -10C with my usual wool baselayer and fleece. Love the outer chest pocket and dump pockets in the jacket. It also fits perfectly under my rush shell when you need just a bit of extra wind protection, was -28C windchill and the shell jacket was really helpful. The inner fabric is really nice also, if there was one improvement they could make- just a slightly more heavy duty outer fabric would be good I think. This jacket doesn’t need to be so light in my opinion and I’m suspect the long term durability will be good. Overall really impressed, could use some other colours also- too late for me though
The cut/fit of this jacket is perfect. It’s as esthetically pleasing as it feels, comforting and warmth. I enjoy wearing this when exploring the city on weekends. Also, its sharp look is appropriate as an outerwear, over my casual business attire, for daily commute to work on cold days.
This is a great coat for shoulder season or winter conditions up to -20C if paired with a good fleece layer. This is my go to city jacket for most days - the construction is very sturdy and high quality like any good Arc’Teryx jacket.
Perfect fit. An amazing, versitile jacket and the two way zipper is handier than you might think. Worn in minus 30 Celsius with just a t-shirt on underneath and it still held the cold out with ease.
I use this jacket all winter as a mid layer under my ski shell jacket and taking the dog for a walk in the city and ski village. This jacket does a great job of keeping your body heat trapped.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son picked this out a month ago and LOVES it. The color (called black sapphire) is definitely more navy than black, but that’s what he wanted. The name is just a bit deceiving.
I cannot believe how warm this jacket is. I have a Canada Goose parka that cost twice as much and isn’t as warm. It weighs nothing but seems impervious to wind and cold. Love it!
